And in the middle of it is a great peak, a hundred yojanas long and thirty yojanas broad, adorned with many minerals and jewels; and upon it is a great highway with jewelled walls and archways. On it is a great city of the Vidyādharas. There is a Vidyādhara king named Puloman, with a retinue of a hundred thousand. And likewise, between the great mountains Vikhākha and Śveta there is a lake; and on its eastern shore is a great mango grove, covered all over with exceedingly fragrant fruits like gold, of the size of great jars. And gods, gandharvas and others dwell there.

(there is a tract) named Bilvasthalī. There the fruits are like coral, and by their falling the soil of the ground is made moist. And that tract is frequented by the guhyakas and others, who eat bilva fruits. And likewise, between Vasudhāra and Ratnadhāra, is a fragrant kiṃśuka wood, thirty yojanas broad and a hundred yojanas long, always in flower, by whose fragrance a hundred yojanas are perfumed. There it is inhabited by siddhas and supplied with water.

And there is a great sanctuary of the god Āditya. And each month the lord Sūrya, the Prajāpati, descends (there). The gods and others bow to him, the begetter of time. And likewise, between Pañcakūṭa and Kailāsa, is a circle of ground a thousand yojanas long and a hundred yojanas broad, white as a goose, unassailable by small creatures, like a stairway to heaven.

Now the mountain valleys situated in the western quarter are described. Between the mountains Supārśva and Śikhin, for a hundred yojanas all around, is a floor of earthen rock, perpetually hot, painful to touch. In its middle is a circle thirty yojanas broad, the place of fire. And there at all times, without fuel, the lord Saṃvartaka, destroyer of the worlds, blazes. And between the excellent mountains Kumuda and Añjana is a citron-tract a hundred yojanas broad, inaccessible to all creatures; covered with yellow-coloured fruits, that tract shines. And there is a holy pool attended by siddhas; that grove is Bṛhaspati's. And likewise, between the mountains Piñjara and Gaura, is a valley with a lake, many hundreds of yojanas long, adorned with great kumuda lotuses loud with bees.

And there is a sanctuary of the Lord Viṣṇu, the supreme Lord. And likewise, between the great mountains Śukla and Pāṇḍura, is a single rocky tract thirty yojanas broad and ninety long, devoid of trees. There is a mud-free oblong pool with trees, and a land lotus-pond adorned with lotuses of many kinds. And in its middle is a great banyan tree five yojanas in measure. On it dwells the god, moon-crested, lord of Umā, blue-clad, praised by yakṣas and others. Between the mountain Sahasraśikhara and Kumuda is (a tract) fifty yojanas long and twenty yojanas broad, with peaks as high as a sugarcane's throw, frequented by many birds, adorned with the fruits of many trees flowing with sweetness. And there is Indra's great hermitage, fashioned by divine intent. And likewise, between Śaṅkhakūṭa and Ṛṣabha, is the pleasant Puruṣasthalī, of many excellences, many yojanas long, furnished with fragrant kaṅkola fruits of the size of bilvas. There dwell nāgas and others, intoxicated with the puruṣa juice.

Rudra said: Now the mountain valleys situated in the southern quarter, frequented by siddhas, are described. Between Śiśira and Pataṅga is white ground with trees whose creepers have fallen away; and on the peak, at a sugarcane's throw in height, adorned with trees, is a lovely udumbara grove frequented by flocks of birds; that grove, bearing fruit, shines with fruits like great tortoises. That grove the eight classes of divine beings always frequent. There flow rivers abounding in water, clear and sweet-tasting. There is the hermitage of the lord Kardama, the Prajāpati, thronged with many kinds of sages; and that grove is one hundred yojanas in circumference. And likewise, between the mountain Tāmrābha and Pataṅga, is a great lake a hundred yojanas broad and twice as long, adorned all around with unbroken thousand-petalled blue lotuses and white lotuses like the newly risen sun, inhabited by many siddhas and gandharvas.
