About Brahman
Brahman.life is a place to ask questions about Indian scripture and philosophy — the Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, Itihasas, Puranas, and devotional literature — and receive answers grounded in the texts themselves, cited to chapter and verse.
Answers are generated by AI from a curated library of public-domain translations, and every claim is linked to the verse it rests on so you can read the source yourself. AI can err, and no website replaces a living teacher; treat the answers here as a doorway into the texts, not a final word.
Sources
- Bhagavad Gita — Sanskrit text (public domain); English translation by Annie Besant, 4th ed. (1922), public domain.
- Rigveda Samhita — Sanskrit e-text via GRETIL (Aufrecht ed.); English by Ralph T.H. Griffith (1896), public domain, aligned via the VedaWeb project.
- Valmiki Ramayana & Mahabharata — vulgate Sanskrit with verse-aligned English by Manmatha Nath Dutt (1891–96), public domain, via the Itihasa corpus.
- Bhagavata & Vishnu Puranas — Sanskrit e-texts via GRETIL (CC BY-NC-SA); English renderings of cited verses are generated and marked as such.
- Upanishads (Katha, Shvetashvatara, Kaivalya) — Sanskrit e-texts via GRETIL.
Transliterations are generated programmatically (IAST). Where traditions read a verse differently, we aim to present the major interpretations by name rather than take a side.
