idānīṃ ca tvayā kāryamasmaddhitamanu'ttamam || golakāya na dātavyaṃ daivaṃ pitryamathāpi vā

And now the highest thing beneficial to us must be done by you: nothing is to be given to a golaka, neither the offering for the gods nor that for the fathers.

Having gone to an east-flowing river and bathed according to the prescription, then having drunk the five products of the cow together with the honey-mixture; (a brahmin) bathed in Vedic learning and vows, constantly devoted to many duties, endowed with good conduct, well contented, knowing the law, speaking the truth — seeing the brahmins who had come, the sinless Medhātithi, having bowed to the brahmins and to his teacher, then began the śrāddha. The fathers said: The śrāddha and the food formally resolved upon were given to that golaka; by that very fault of the rite we are on the point of going to hell. The king rejoiced greatly (seeing them) glad, well-fed, endowed with strength; and the fathers, seeing the king devoted to his fathers (said): All (kings) beginning with Nimi will perform the śrāddha, O Earth, month by month, and afterwards in the fortnight of the fathers, O you rich in austerity.
