On the northeastern petal of the lotus, preceded by the utterance of the praṇava, having uttered the Skanda-gāyatrī, one should then meditate upon Kumāra: resembling the rising sun, having the excellent peacock as his mount. Dharma, knowledge, dispassion and sovereignty are indeed the (four) feet (of the seat), white, yellow, red and dark in colour beginning from the southeast; one skilled in the respective gestures should place (them) in order in the image. Then, standing with the hollow of his palms full of flowers, he should invoke the god: endowed with all auspicious marks, adorned with all ornaments, having divine weapons in his hands, anointed with divine fragrances, pervading the five paths, hence having a body of the five kalās, the god with Īśāna as his crown, ancient, named Puruṣa, holding a shining golden lotus in his right hand — having placed in (the other) hand a fly-whisk like Caṇḍa's, seated on a comfortable seat. Having thus performed meditation and worship properly according to the rule, the skilled one should begin the worship of my retinue.
