Then he should sprinkle the lotus with the astra, out of the fire's range. Having worshipped, he should afterwards worship the solar yoga-seat; having fashioned the image upon the seat with the root-mantra, the knower of the root-mantra (should place) Arka, Brahmā, Rudra and Viṣṇu, again, O dear one, worshipping them in the northeast and the other quarters, and again in the third enclosure. Taking up the excellent arghya that has been offered — with red powder, with golden water, rich with garland and saffron, with kuśa and with flowers, together with a golden vessel — (he says) 'O Lord, be gracious'; having said 'let them depart', and thereafter the praṇava and 'astrāya phaṭ', with three strikings of the heel, and again with breath controlled the wise one should perform the gazing and the rest.
