Among them, those who are of good deeds, gentle-minded and endowed with compassion — those men go by the gentle eastern (road) to Yama's dwelling. (But others go) somewhere by a road covered with deep mire and with sins that cause great pain, somewhere with darbha-grass like iron needles; struck by a most violent wind mixed with great dust and by a rain of huge stones, without refuge; having become pretas, naked, their throats, lips and palates dry, unlovely and terrified, burning, afflicted with hunger; they are split open with bhindipāla missiles, oozing pus and blood; smeared with excrement and worms, the men are led away helpless; (they see one) with hair erect, with a great beard, his lower lip quivering upward, eighteen-armed, wrathful, like a heap of dark antimony.
