— (theft) of a man together with his servants and retinue, and of his cattle, grain and wealth; the theft of base metals, grain and cattle, and likewise the fouling of waters; he whose undertaking in good works is for the sake of the enjoyment of tongue and lust; he who constantly proclaims (his own merits) as the ground (of them), and whatever pertains to knowledge of the Veda (and the like, so divulged); and those who cause suffering to twice-born men and those who raise a blow (against them); those twice-born who serve Śūdras and who bind (i.e. distil? / who addict themselves to) liquor at will; those unrestrained in their senses who, having themselves taken up observances, abandon them; and those who, settled in the mendicant's life, are revilers of Hara's mouth (teaching); and he who, overstepping what is fitting, would exact a tax at his own pleasure — he too is cooked in hell, and the man who delights in punishment; these and other various goods too — having stolen them, even small ones, (such men) surely go to the hells.
