That food is cooked all around again by the hot water; when cooked it becomes twofold: the dregs separate, the juice separate. And these, being full, go again throughout the body on every side. Then that juice, seated in the midst of the channels, together with the body and the self— In four months the fingers are produced in due order; the mouth, the nose and the two ears in five months. As someone crushed by a great mountain remains in misery, so the embodied one, wrapped in the amnion, remains in misery. Covered with hair, down and nails, a seat of disease, ailing, with the mouth as its one great door, adorned with eight windows; the blood is to be reckoned a hundred palas, and the excrement and urine, by measure, four handfuls each, O best of sages.
