SiP 4 43.1

सूत उवाच ।। श्रूयतामृषयः सर्वे शिवज्ञानं यथा श्रुतम्।। कथयामि महागुह्यं पर मुक्तिस्वरूपकम्

sūta uvāca || śrūyatāmṛṣayaḥ sarve śivajñānaṃ yathā śrutam|| kathayāmi mahāguhyaṃ para muktisvarūpakam

The Sūta said: Listen, all you sages, to the knowledge of Śiva as it was heard (by me); I shall tell the great secret, the supreme, which is the very nature of liberation.

कनारदकुमाराणां व्यासस्य कपिलस्य च ।। एतेषां च समाजे तैर्निश्चित्य समुदाहृतम्

kanāradakumārāṇāṃ vyāsasya kapilasya ca || eteṣāṃ ca samāje tairniścitya samudāhṛtam

In the assembly of these—Kaṇāda(?), Nārada, the Kumāras, Vyāsa and Kapila—it was determined by them and fully proclaimed.

SiP 4 43.3

इति ज्ञानं सदा ज्ञेयं सर्वं शिवमयं जगत् ।। शिवः सर्वमयो ज्ञेयस्सर्वज्ञेन विपश्चिता

iti jñānaṃ sadā jñeyaṃ sarvaṃ śivamayaṃ jagat || śivaḥ sarvamayo jñeyassarvajñena vipaścitā

Thus is the knowledge always to be known: that the whole world consists of Śiva; Śiva is to be known by the all-knowing wise man as consisting of everything.

SiP 4 43.4

ābrahmatṛṇaparyantaṃ yatkiṃciddṛśyate jagat || tatsarvaṃ śiva evāsti sa devaḥ śiva ucyate svasyāpyaṃśasya jīvāṃśo hyavidyāmohito vaśaḥ|| anyo'hamiti jānāti tayā mukto bhavecchivaḥ sarvaṃ śivaḥ śivaṃ sarvaṃ nāsti bhedaśca kaścana || kathaṃ ca vividhaṃ paśyatyekatvaṃ ca kathaṃ punaḥ yathaikaṃ ca suvarṇādi militaṃ rajatādinā | jīvanmuktasya evāsau dehaḥ śīrṇa śive milet || prārabdhavaśago dehastadbhinno jñānavān mataḥ nāradāya tataḥ proktaṃ tajjñānaṃ sanakādibhiḥ || vyāsāya nāradenoktaṃ tena mahyaṃ kṛpālunā āvṛttayaḥ paṃca kāryāḥ samuddiśya phalaṃ param|| tatprāpnoti na sandeho vyāsasya vacanaṃ tvidam

Whatever world is seen, from Brahmā down to a blade of grass, all that is Śiva alone; that god is called Śiva. Even the living portion of his own portion, deluded by ignorance, is under (its) control, and thinks 'I am other'; freed from that (ignorance) it would become Śiva. All is Śiva, Śiva is all, and there is no difference whatever; then how does one see the manifold, and again how (does one see) oneness? Just as gold and the like is one when mixed with silver and the like—this very body of one liberated while living, when worn away, would merge into Śiva. The body is subject to accumulated karma; the knower is held to be distinct from it. Then that knowledge was spoken to Nārada by Sanaka and the others; by Nārada it was spoken to Vyāsa, and by him, the compassionate one, to me. Five recitations are to be performed with the supreme fruit in view; one attains it—there is no doubt; and this is Vyāsa's word.

SiP 4 43.5

यदेच्छा तस्य जायेत तदा च क्रियते त्विदम् ।। सर्वं स एव जानाति तं न जानाति कश्चन

yadecchā tasya jāyeta tadā ca kriyate tvidam || sarvaṃ sa eva jānāti taṃ na jānāti kaścana

When a wish arises in him, then this (world) is made; he alone knows everything, but no one knows him.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.6

रचयित्वा स्वयं तच्च प्रविश्य दूरतः स्थितः।। न तत्र च प्रविष्टोसौ निर्लिप्तश्चित्स्वरूपवान्

racayitvā svayaṃ tacca praviśya dūrataḥ sthitaḥ|| na tatra ca praviṣṭosau nirliptaścitsvarūpavān

Having himself fashioned it and entered it, he remains far off; and he has not entered there (at all), being unattached and having consciousness as his nature.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.7

यथा च ज्योतिषश्चैव जलादौ प्रतिबिंबता ।। वस्तुतो न प्रवेशो वै तथैव च शिवः स्वयम्

yathā ca jyotiṣaścaiva jalādau pratibiṃbatā || vastuto na praveśo vai tathaiva ca śivaḥ svayam

And just as there is a reflection of a light in water and the like, but in reality there is no entering (into it), so too is Śiva himself.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.8

वस्तुतस्तु स्वयं सर्वं क्रमो हि भासते शुभः।। अज्ञानं च मतेर्भेदो नास्त्यन्यच्च द्वयम्पुनः

vastutastu svayaṃ sarvaṃ kramo hi bhāsate śubhaḥ|| ajñānaṃ ca materbhedo nāstyanyacca dvayampunaḥ

But in reality all is himself; the auspicious sequence (only) appears (so). Ignorance is a difference of opinion; there is nothing else, nor any duality.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition — the model flagged this verse as uncertain

SiP 4 43.9

दर्शनेषु च सर्वेषु मतिभेदः प्रदर्श्यते।। परं वेदान्तिनो नित्यमद्वैतं प्रतिचक्षते

darśaneṣu ca sarveṣu matibhedaḥ pradarśyate|| paraṃ vedāntino nityamadvaitaṃ praticakṣate

In all the philosophical systems a difference of view is set forth; but the Vedāntins constantly declare non-duality to be the highest.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.11

सर्वं व्याप्य शिवः साक्षाद् व्यापकः सर्वजन्तुषु।। चेतनाचेतनेशोपि सर्वत्र शंकरस्स्वयम्

sarvaṃ vyāpya śivaḥ sākṣād vyāpakaḥ sarvajantuṣu|| cetanācetaneśopi sarvatra śaṃkarassvayam

Pervading everything, Śiva is directly the pervader in all creatures; lord of the conscious and the unconscious alike, Śaṃkara himself is everywhere.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.12

उपायं यः करोत्यस्य दर्शनार्थं विचक्षणः।। वेदान्तमार्गमाश्रित्य तद्दर्शनफलं लभेत्

upāyaṃ yaḥ karotyasya darśanārthaṃ vicakṣaṇaḥ|| vedāntamārgamāśritya taddarśanaphalaṃ labhet

The discerning man who applies a means to the seeing of him, resorting to the path of Vedānta, would obtain the fruit which is the vision of him.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.13

यथाग्निर्व्यापकश्चैव काष्ठेकाष्ठे च तिष्ठति।। यो वै मंथति तत्काष्ठं स वै पश्यत्यसंशयम्

yathāgnirvyāpakaścaiva kāṣṭhekāṣṭhe ca tiṣṭhati|| yo vai maṃthati tatkāṣṭhaṃ sa vai paśyatyasaṃśayam

Just as fire is pervasive and resides in every piece of wood, he who churns that wood surely sees it, without doubt.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.14

भक्त्यादिसाधनानीह यः करोति विचक्षणः।। स वै पश्यत्यवश्यं हि तं शिवं नात्र संशयः

bhaktyādisādhanānīha yaḥ karoti vicakṣaṇaḥ|| sa vai paśyatyavaśyaṃ hi taṃ śivaṃ nātra saṃśayaḥ

The discerning man who here practises the disciplines of devotion and the rest—he certainly sees that Śiva; there is no doubt in this.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.15

शिवःशिवःशिवश्चैव नान्यदस्तीति किंचन।। भ्रान्त्या नानास्वरूपो हि भासते शङ्करस्सदा

śivaḥśivaḥśivaścaiva nānyadastīti kiṃcana|| bhrāntyā nānāsvarūpo hi bhāsate śaṅkarassadā

Śiva, Śiva, Śiva alone—there is nothing else at all; it is through delusion that Śaṅkara always appears as having many forms.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.16

यथा समुद्रो मृच्चैव सुवर्णमथवा पुनः ।। उपाधितो हि नानात्वं लभते शंकरस्तथा

yathā samudro mṛccaiva suvarṇamathavā punaḥ || upādhito hi nānātvaṃ labhate śaṃkarastathā

Just as the ocean, or clay, or again gold (does), so Śaṃkara attains multiplicity only through a limiting condition (upādhi).

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.17

कार्यकारणयोर्भेदो वस्तुतो न प्रवर्तते ।। केवलं भ्रान्तिबुद्ध्यैव तदाभावे स नश्यति

kāryakāraṇayorbhedo vastuto na pravartate || kevalaṃ bhrāntibuddhyaiva tadābhāve sa naśyati

A difference between effect and cause does not in reality arise; it exists solely through a deluded understanding, and in the absence of that it perishes.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.18

तदा बीजात्प्ररोहश्च नानात्वं हि प्रकाशयेत् ।। अन्ते च बीजमेव स्यात्तत्प्ररोहश्च नश्यति

tadā bījātprarohaśca nānātvaṃ hi prakāśayet || ante ca bījameva syāttatprarohaśca naśyati

Then the sprout from the seed does indeed display multiplicity; but in the end there is the seed alone, and that sprout perishes.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.19

ज्ञानी च बीजमेव स्यात्प्ररोहो विकृतीर्मता ।। तन्निवृत्तौ पुनर्ज्ञानी नात्र कार्या विचारणा

jñānī ca bījameva syātpraroho vikṛtīrmatā || tannivṛttau punarjñānī nātra kāryā vicāraṇā

The knower too is just the seed; the sprout is held to be the modifications. When these cease, (he is) again the knower—no further reflection is needed here.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.21

यथैकं चैव सूर्याख्यं ज्योतिर्नानाविधं जनैः ।। जलादौ च विशेषेण दृश्यते तत्तथैव सः

yathaikaṃ caiva sūryākhyaṃ jyotirnānāvidhaṃ janaiḥ || jalādau ca viśeṣeṇa dṛśyate tattathaiva saḥ

Just as the one light called the sun is seen by people as manifold, especially in water and the like, so too is he.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.22

सर्वत्र व्यापकश्चैव स्पर्शत्वं न विबध्यते ।। तथैव व्यापको देवो बध्यते न क्वचित्स वै

sarvatra vyāpakaścaiva sparśatvaṃ na vibadhyate || tathaiva vyāpako devo badhyate na kvacitsa vai

And (as air/space) is pervading everywhere and its touchable nature is not obstructed, so too the pervading God is nowhere obstructed.

SiP 4 43.23

साहंकारस्तथा जीवस्तन्मुक्तः शंकरः स्वयम् ।। जीवस्तुच्छः कर्मभोगो निर्लिप्तः शंकरो महान्

sāhaṃkārastathā jīvastanmuktaḥ śaṃkaraḥ svayam || jīvastucchaḥ karmabhogo nirliptaḥ śaṃkaro mahān

Thus the individual soul is possessed of egoity, while Śaṃkara himself is free of it; the soul is trifling, subject to the enjoyment of its karma, whereas the great Śaṃkara is unattached.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.24

अल्पमूल्यं प्रजायेत तथा जीवोऽप्यहंयुतः

alpamūlyaṃ prajāyeta tathā jīvo'pyahaṃyutaḥ

...would become of little value; so too the soul joined with the 'I'.

SiP 4 43.25

यथैव हि सुर्वणादि क्षारादेः शोधितं शुभम्।। पूर्ववन्मूल्यतां याति तथा जीवोऽपि संस्कृतेः

yathaiva hi survaṇādi kṣārādeḥ śodhitaṃ śubham|| pūrvavanmūlyatāṃ yāti tathā jīvo'pi saṃskṛteḥ

Just as gold and the like, purified by alkali and such, becomes bright and regains its former value, so too the soul through purificatory discipline.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.26

प्रथमं सद्गुरुं प्राप्य भक्तिभाव समन्वितः ।। शिवबुद्ध्या करोत्युच्चैः पूजनं स्मरणादिकम्

prathamaṃ sadguruṃ prāpya bhaktibhāva samanvitaḥ || śivabuddhyā karotyuccaiḥ pūjanaṃ smaraṇādikam

First, having obtained a true teacher, filled with the feeling of devotion, with the awareness of Śiva he performs worship, remembrance and the rest in an exalted way.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.27

तद्बुध्या देहतो याति सर्वपापादिको मलः ।। तदाऽज्ञानं च नश्येत ज्ञानवाञ्जायते यदा

tadbudhyā dehato yāti sarvapāpādiko malaḥ || tadā'jñānaṃ ca naśyeta jñānavāñjāyate yadā

Through that awareness the impurity consisting of all sins and the rest departs from the body; then ignorance too perishes, when one becomes possessed of knowledge.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.28

तदाहंकारनिर्मुक्तो जीवो निर्मलबुद्धिमान् ।। शङ्करस्य प्रसादेन प्रयाति शङ्करताम्पुनः

tadāhaṃkāranirmukto jīvo nirmalabuddhimān || śaṅkarasya prasādena prayāti śaṅkaratāmpunaḥ

Then the soul, freed from egoity, its understanding made spotless, by the grace of Śaṃkara goes again to the state of Śaṃkara.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.29

यथाऽऽदर्शस्वरूपे च स्वीयरूपं प्रदृश्यते ।। तथा सर्वत्रगं शम्भु पश्यतीति सुनिश्चितम्

yathā''darśasvarūpe ca svīyarūpaṃ pradṛśyate || tathā sarvatragaṃ śambhu paśyatīti suniścitam

Just as one's own form is seen in the substance of a mirror, so, it is quite certain, he sees the all-pervading Śambhu.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.31

शुभं लब्ध्वा न हृष्येत कुप्येल्लब्ध्वाऽशुभं न हि ।। द्वंद्वेषु समता यस्य ज्ञानवानुच्यते हि सः

śubhaṃ labdhvā na hṛṣyeta kupyellabdhvā'śubhaṃ na hi || dvaṃdveṣu samatā yasya jñānavānucyate hi saḥ

He would not rejoice on obtaining what is pleasant, nor grow angry on obtaining what is unpleasant: he whose equanimity holds among the pairs (of opposites) is indeed called a knower.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.32

आत्मयोगेन तत्त्वानामथवा च विवेकतः ।। यथा शरीरतो यायाच्छरीरं मुक्तिमिच्छतः

ātmayogena tattvānāmathavā ca vivekataḥ || yathā śarīrato yāyāccharīraṃ muktimicchataḥ

By union with the Self of the principles, or else by discrimination—so that the body departs from the body of one who desires liberation.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition — the model flagged this verse as uncertain

SiP 4 43.33

सदाशिवो विलीयेत मुक्तो विरहमेव च ।। ज्ञानमूलन्तथाध्यात्म्यं तस्य भक्तिश्शिवस्य च

sadāśivo vilīyeta mukto virahameva ca || jñānamūlantathādhyātmyaṃ tasya bhaktiśśivasya ca

Sadāśiva would dissolve (in him), and the liberated one likewise the separation; his inner discipline has knowledge as its root, and so does his devotion to Śiva.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition — the model flagged this verse as uncertain

SiP 4 43.34

भक्तेश्च प्रेम संप्रोक्तं प्रेम्णश्च श्रवणन्तथा ।। श्रवणाच्चापि सत्संगस्सत्संगाच्च गुरुर्बुधः

bhakteśca prema saṃproktaṃ premṇaśca śravaṇantathā || śravaṇāccāpi satsaṃgassatsaṃgācca gururbudhaḥ

And from devotion love is declared (to arise), and from love likewise hearing; and from hearing the company of the good, and from the company of the good the wise teacher.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.35

सम्पन्ने च तथा ज्ञाने मुक्तो भवति निश्चितम् ।। इति चेज्ज्ञानवान्यो वै शंभुमेव सदा भजेत्

sampanne ca tathā jñāne mukto bhavati niścitam || iti cejjñānavānyo vai śaṃbhumeva sadā bhajet

And when knowledge is thus complete, one certainly becomes liberated. If this is so, whoever possesses knowledge should always worship Śambhu alone.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.36

अनन्यया च भक्त्या वै युक्तः शम्भुं भजेत्पुनः ।। अन्ते च मुक्तिमायाति नात्र कार्या विचारणा

ananyayā ca bhaktyā vai yuktaḥ śambhuṃ bhajetpunaḥ || ante ca muktimāyāti nātra kāryā vicāraṇā

And one who, joined with undivided devotion, worships Śambhu, in the end comes to liberation—no reflection need be made about this.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.37

अतोऽधिको न देवोऽस्ति मुक्तिप्राप्त्यै च शंकरात्।। शरणं प्राप्य यश्चैव संसाराद्विनिवर्तते

ato'dhiko na devo'sti muktiprāptyai ca śaṃkarāt|| śaraṇaṃ prāpya yaścaiva saṃsārādvinivartate

Hence there is no god higher than Śaṃkara for the attainment of liberation; and whoever, having come to (his) refuge, turns back from the round of rebirth—

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.38

इति मे विविधं वाक्यमृषीणां च समागतैः ।। निश्चित्य कथितं विप्रा धिया धार्यं प्रयत्नतः

iti me vividhaṃ vākyamṛṣīṇāṃ ca samāgataiḥ || niścitya kathitaṃ viprā dhiyā dhāryaṃ prayatnataḥ

Thus my manifold discourse, (settled) together with the sages — having determined it, I have declared it, O brahmins; it should be held in mind with effort.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition — the model flagged this verse as uncertain

SiP 4 43.39

प्रथमं विष्णवे दत्तं शंभुना लिंगसन्मुखे ।। विष्णुना ब्रह्मणे दत्तं ब्रह्मणा सनकादिषु

prathamaṃ viṣṇave dattaṃ śaṃbhunā liṃgasanmukhe || viṣṇunā brahmaṇe dattaṃ brahmaṇā sanakādiṣu

First it was given by Śambhu to Viṣṇu, in the very presence of the liṅga; by Viṣṇu it was given to Brahmā, and by Brahmā to Sanaka and the others.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.41

मया चैव भवद्भ्यश्च भवद्भिर्लोकहेतवे ।। स्थापनीयं प्रयत्नेन शिवप्राप्तिकरं च तत्

mayā caiva bhavadbhyaśca bhavadbhirlokahetave || sthāpanīyaṃ prayatnena śivaprāptikaraṃ ca tat

And (it was given) by me to you, and by you (it should be given) for the sake of the world; it should be established with effort, for it brings about the attainment of Śiva.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.42

इति वश्च समाख्यातं यत्पृष्टोऽहं मुनीश्वराः ।। गोपनीयं प्रयत्नेन किमन्यच्छ्रोतुमिच्छथ

iti vaśca samākhyātaṃ yatpṛṣṭo'haṃ munīśvarāḥ || gopanīyaṃ prayatnena kimanyacchrotumicchatha

Thus it has been fully told to you, that about which I was asked, O lords among sages; it is to be guarded carefully. What else do you wish to hear?

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.43

व्यास उवाच ।। एतच्छुत्वा तु ऋषय आनन्दं परमं गताः ।। हर्षगद्गदया वाचा नत्वा ते तुष्टुवुर्मुहुः

vyāsa uvāca || etacchutvā tu ṛṣaya ānandaṃ paramaṃ gatāḥ || harṣagadgadayā vācā natvā te tuṣṭuvurmuhuḥ

Vyāsa said: But having heard this, the sages attained the highest bliss; bowing, with voices choked with joy, they praised (him) again and again.

ऋषय ऊचुः ।। व्यासशिष्य नमस्तेऽस्तु धन्यस्त्वं शैवसत्तमः ।। श्रावितं नः परं वस्तु शैवं ज्ञानमनुत्तमम्

ṛṣaya ūcuḥ || vyāsaśiṣya namaste'stu dhanyastvaṃ śaivasattamaḥ || śrāvitaṃ naḥ paraṃ vastu śaivaṃ jñānamanuttamam

The sages said: O disciple of Vyāsa, homage be to you; you are blessed, the best of Śaivas. You have caused us to hear the supreme reality, the unsurpassed Śaiva knowledge.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.45

अस्माकं चेतसो भ्रान्तिर्गता हि कृपया तव ।। सन्तुष्टाश्शिवसज्ज्ञानं प्राप्य त्वत्तो विमुक्तिदम्

asmākaṃ cetaso bhrāntirgatā hi kṛpayā tava || santuṣṭāśśivasajjñānaṃ prāpya tvatto vimuktidam

Indeed the delusion of our mind is gone by your grace; we are content, having obtained from you the true knowledge of Śiva that grants liberation.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.46

सूत उवाच ।। नास्तिकाय न वक्तव्यमश्रद्धाय शठाय च।। अभक्ताय महेशस्य न चाशुश्रुषवे द्विजाः

sūta uvāca || nāstikāya na vaktavyamaśraddhāya śaṭhāya ca|| abhaktāya maheśasya na cāśuśruṣave dvijāḥ

Sūta said: It is not to be told to an unbeliever, nor to one without faith, nor to a deceitful man, nor to one who is not devoted to Maheśa, nor to one unwilling to listen, O twice-born ones.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

इतिहासपुराणानि वेदाच्छास्त्राणि चासकृत् ।। विचार्य्योद्धृत्य तत्सारं मह्यं व्यासेन भाषितम्

itihāsapurāṇāni vedācchāstrāṇi cāsakṛt || vicāryyoddhṛtya tatsāraṃ mahyaṃ vyāsena bhāṣitam

Having examined the epics and the Purāṇas, the Vedas and the treatises again and again, and having extracted their essence, Vyāsa spoke it to me.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.48

एतच्छ्रुत्वा ह्येकवारं भवेत्पापं हि भस्मसात् ।। अभक्तो भक्तिमाप्नोति भक्तस्य भक्तिवर्द्धनम्

etacchrutvā hyekavāraṃ bhavetpāpaṃ hi bhasmasāt || abhakto bhaktimāpnoti bhaktasya bhaktivarddhanam

By hearing this even once sin is indeed reduced to ashes; one without devotion attains devotion, and for the devotee there is an increase of devotion.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.49

पुनश्श्रुते च सद्भक्तिर्मुक्तिस्स्याच्च श्रुते पुनः।। तस्मात्पुनःपुनश्श्राव्यं भुक्तिमुक्तिफलेप्सुभिः

punaśśrute ca sadbhaktirmuktissyācca śrute punaḥ|| tasmātpunaḥpunaśśrāvyaṃ bhuktimuktiphalepsubhiḥ

On hearing it again there is true devotion, and on hearing it yet again there would be liberation; therefore it should be caused to be heard again and again by those who desire the fruits of enjoyment and liberation.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.51

न दुर्लभं हि तस्यैव येनेदं श्रुतमुत्तमम् ।। पंचकृत्वस्तदावृत्त्या लभ्यते शिवदर्शनम्

na durlabhaṃ hi tasyaiva yenedaṃ śrutamuttamam || paṃcakṛtvastadāvṛttyā labhyate śivadarśanam

Nothing is hard to obtain for him by whom this supreme (teaching) has been heard; by repeating it five times the vision of Śiva is obtained.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

SiP 4 43.52

पुरातनाश्च राजानो विप्रा वैश्याश्च सत्तमाः ।। इदं श्रुत्वा पंचकृत्वो धिया सिद्धिं परां गताः

purātanāśca rājāno viprā vaiśyāśca sattamāḥ || idaṃ śrutvā paṃcakṛtvo dhiyā siddhiṃ parāṃ gatāḥ

And the kings of old, and brahmins, and the best of vaiśyas, having heard this five times, attained the highest perfection through (their) understanding.

śroṣyatyadyāpi yaścedaṃ mānavo bhaktitatparaḥ || vijñānaṃ śivasaṃjñaṃ vai bhuktiṃ muktiṃ labhecca saḥ

And whatever man, intent on devotion, shall even now hear this knowledge called Śiva's, he too shall obtain enjoyment and liberation.

With prostrations and with praises, preceded by utterances of benediction, being content and with their doubts cut away, they exalted (him) with blessings.
