skull in hand, the Self of all, he roamed the three worlds; and the terrible Brahmahatyā did not forsake that god either. Viṣṇu said: Look, beloved, lotus-eyed one—you are blessed, fair and faultless one; and I am blessed, O goddess of lovely hips, in that we two behold the Lord of the world. Having spoken thus, Hṛṣīkeśa, the hair of his body bristling with joy, bowed to Mahādeva, the bull-bannered one, and said this: I follow your actions as they are, O Lord of Śivā; it is by your grace alone, O Śambhu, Lord of all, refuge of the good. Today I have the highest gain, today mine is the supreme blessing; for one satisfied with the nectar of seeing him, heaven and release are a straw. Viṣṇu said: This alone is the boon to be praised, that I behold you, lord of the gods, O God of gods, who art beyond the path of mind and speech. Whoever calls to mind Kapālamocana, the highest holy place in Kāśī—whatever sin (he has committed) here or elsewhere quickly perishes. Whoever in Kāśī does not worship Kālarāja on the eighth day (of the dark fortnight) falling on a Tuesday, his merit wanes as the moon does in the dark fortnight.
