And Arjuna then cut apart their volley of arrows; and when a weapon was hurled by them, he thereupon called Śarva to mind. Meanwhile the god Śiva took his stand in the sky and, remaining there, fought; and Arjuna did likewise. Reflecting thus in his mind, with folded hands and bowed head he reverently made obeisance to the Lord, and then, dejected in mind, he spoke. "For the establishment of fame and kingdom over your enemies a good thing has been done; this grief should not be indulged — cast off all despondency. Homage be to you of the beautiful feet, of the reddish feet; homage to you, lord of the hosts, to be served by Nandin and the other attendants." Nandīśvara said: Thus addressed by him, Arjuna bowed down to Sadāśiva and, with folded hands and lowered (head), out of love spoke with faltering syllables. Then Arjuna, his mind gladdened, having obtained the weapon and a boon from the Lord, went to his own hermitage, remembering with devotion his chief teacher, Śiva.
