atha gurvindrayorjñātvāgamanaṃ śaṃkarastayoḥ || parīkṣituṃ ca tadbhāvaṃ svadarśanaratātmanoḥ nandīśvara uvāca || śakreṇetthaṃ sa pṛṣṭaśca kiṃcinnovāca pūruṣaḥ || līlāgṛhītadehassa śaṅkaro madahā prabhuḥ dṛṣṭvā vṛhaspatistvenamprajvalantaṃ svatejasā || puruṣaṃ taṃ dhiyāmāsa praṇanāma haraṃ drutam nandīśvara uvāca || iti śrutvā vacastasya śaṃkarasya bṛhaspatiḥ || uvāca sāñjalirbhūyo bhayavyākulamānasaḥ babhūvuḥ sakalā devāḥ sukhinaścātinirbhayāḥ || guruśakrau bhayānmuktau jagmatuḥ sukhamuttamam

Then Śaṃkara, knowing of the coming of the teacher and Indra, in order to test the disposition of those two whose hearts were set on seeing him — Nandīśvara said: Though questioned thus by Śakra, that man said nothing; he was Śaṅkara, the lord, destroyer of arrogance, who had taken on a body in play. But Bṛhaspati, seeing him blazing with his own splendour, reflected upon that man and quickly bowed to Hara. Nandīśvara said: Having heard that speech of Śaṃkara, Bṛhaspati, his mind agitated with fear, spoke again with joined palms. All the gods became happy and quite free of fear; the teacher and Śakra, released from fear, attained the highest happiness.
