(He it was) by whom Viṣṇu was defeated in battle together with Kṣuva, and (Viṣṇu) along with the gods was then cursed by the helper of Maheśvara. Sūta said: Having heard this auspicious speech of the son of Brahmā, the son of Śilāda replied with a serene mind, recalling the lotus-feet of Śiva. Seeing the sage there, Śakra respectfully (saw him) accompanied by Suvarcā, and bowed with folded hands, humble, together with his teacher and the gods, (bowing) to him. Then Indra, raising the thunderbolt, made strong by Śiva's power, rushed upon Vṛtra in wrath, O sage, as Rudra upon Antaka (Death). Then that faithful wife, wishing to follow her husband to his world, that high-minded woman made a pyre with very pure fuel. And Suvarcā, of clear eyes, laughing, spoke to that son of hers, the mother speaking with great affection, desiring her husband's world. And when they had performed the rites in due form for that shining son of Pippala's (father), the father of Śarva('s devotee), all of them, Viṣṇu and the rest, praised (him) again.
