Brahmā said: Having heard the story of Anaraṇya together with the giving of the daughter, the lord of mountains, with joined palms, questioned Vasiṣṭha again. — Seeing that beautiful woman, radiant as Padmā, the mighty one in the form of a bull spoke, in order to know the disposition abiding within her, the sage's wife. — By the mere touch of one mastered by a woman all merit perishes; one mastered by a woman is a great sinner, and the sight of him brings sin. — By whom milk was made white, and coolness was formerly made in water, and the fire was made to burn: homage indeed to that Śiva. — And there will be the loss of a quarter (of dharma) in the Tretā, O best of the gods; another quarter in the Dvāpara, and a third also in the Kali, O mighty one. — You will become the mother of ten sons, endowed with virtues and long-lived, and superior to their own father — there is no doubt. — O Jupiter, joined with all the good planets and free from the gaze of ill planets, granting good offspring, bestowing the good fortune of a husband.
