"In mind, in speech, and directly in deed, (I have chosen him) as my husband; I speak the truth, not untruth: Śaṃkara indeed has been chosen (by me)." The brahmin said: "If, O goddess, you are minded to listen and keep me here with devotion, I will tell you the whole truth, by which you may gain knowledge. You are a jewel among women; your father is king over all the lords of the earth. Why then do you strive by fierce austerity for a husband of such a kind? Where (belongs) the noise of the drum, and where the inauspicious sound of the (rustic) horn? Your own excellent beauty and Śiva's are not fitting (together)."
