Having gone and bowed to the lord of the three worlds, who was intent on meditation, he offered him his daughter Kālī, wonderful in heart — (her) who was quite able, by the mere sight of her, to dislodge even a sage's mind bound fast in the cage of meditation, the crest-jewel of the host of women. "Hear now, out of affection for me, the petition of me, your own servant; by your command, O god, dear sir, I speak it out of my humbleness." "I am an ascetic and a yogin, always untouched by māyā; there is no purpose whatsoever, reasonably, in a woman — what is she to me, O bearer of the earth?"
