—mounting his divine chariot, that crusher of all enemies, and taking up his supreme weapons, roared out a lion's roar. Both mighty ones fought with each other with relish, dealing blows of many kinds—Nandin and Śakra, each eager for victory. Kṣetrapāla, seeing the discus coming on swiftly, the mighty hero came up there and all at once devoured it. All those too, whose splendour equalled Nārāyaṇa's, that hero reduced to ashes, slaying them with his trident, remembering the Lord Śiva. And struck by him with three arrows—by Vīrabhadra—Hari's Śārṅga bow, my dear, became three pieces that very instant, O sage. Then, tearing apart the others too, the gods and the rest, he felled them to the surface of the earth, his eyes overcome with rage. Judging that head to be unsplittable by weapons and missiles of every sort, he tore it off with his hand, pressing down on the chest with his feet.
