Now, out of good affection, tell (me) further that highest glory: what did they do, the couple Śiva (and Satī), abiding there — (their) deeds? Nārada said: O disciple of Viṣṇu, greatly fortunate Vidhi, tell me at length that story of Śivā and Śiva which follows upon (their) way of conduct. All this is by his play alone — such is the (deluded) confusion about the truth; therein there is no fault of anyone; he is all-pervading, the impeller. Satī said: O god of gods, supreme Brahman, lord of all, supreme Lord, all the gods, Hari, Brahmā and the rest, always serve you; (you have) descended on the earth for the protection of the good, for our welfare. Having said this, that lord who caused the remembrance of Śambhu fell silent. Why, abandoning your own form, has this form been assumed by you, O Satī? Tell (me) the reason for that, O goddess, showing grace upon me. Brahmā said: Hearing that speech of hers, Rāma, his eyes wide open, remembered his own lord Śambhu, and love arose exceedingly in his heart.
