Satī said: O god of gods, Mahādeva, Śaṃbhu, dearer to me than life, hear my words, lord; having heard, do that, O giver of honour. The dark rain-season has come into view like a ring of arrows destroying the night — like the fire blazing in the mare's mouth within the ocean. On Kailāsa, or on the Himālaya, or in great Kāśī, or (elsewhere) on the earth — there make a fitting dwelling, O bull-bannered one. The daughters of the serpent-king, the daughters of the mountains, the nāga maidens and the chief horse-faced ones — all of them will constantly render you service with pleasing, playful gestures. (The place is) frequented, O mistress of the gods, by lovely blue lotuses and the rest, and by all fragrances released from them, and by saffron; joined with many herds of deer, encircled by hundreds of lotus-ponds, endowed with all excellences, O beautiful one, a place better even than Sumeru; with the sweet cries of male cuckoos attended by their flocks, with horse-faced beings, siddhas, apsarases and guhyakas. Thus, by their mutual union, Kālī and Śiva made the tree of love grow, watering it with the water of feeling.
