When the attendants of Śambhu, the pervading lord, had gone away by his own will — what did the angry sage Nārada, overwhelmed by love, do? What was done by Śiva, the supreme Self, was not at all fitting(?). Reflecting on the strength of His power, He who acts independently — when the māyā had vanished, he became possessed of understanding as before. Nārada, astonished in mind, having attained awakening and free from agitation, made his mind resolved thus: "All that has happened is Śiva's will. That lord Śaṅkara, the supreme ruler, the remover of pride, took away your divine understanding, O Kāma(?), and gave you affliction; that Maheśvara had the curse upon me pronounced from your mouth. Even boundless heaps of sins such as brahmin-murder, O sage, are destroyed by the remembrance of Śiva — this I say, truly, truly. As trees in a forest, burnt down, are reduced to ashes, so too are the sins of Śiva's devotees burnt away." Beholding the incomparable greatness of Śaṅkara, the supreme Self, go afterwards, O sage, to Ānandavana, dearest to Śambhu.
