Then the Garuḍa-bannered one (Viṣṇu), coming joyfully to Śambhu, rising up with palms joined, together with Kamalā, said this: "I, having approached the Goddess, performed in full and at great length, according to the rule stated in the domestic (rites), the fire-ritual as prescribed. Thus, having so looked upon Dakṣa's daughter, devoted to her husband, my mind was seized by desire, O sage, and I wished to see her face. Then that lord Śambhu, knowing (this) with his divine eye, on account of his emission of seed spoke this out of anger." Brahmā said: In this manner, at much length, those distressed immortals and the sages praised the God of gods, the Great Lord, who was possessed by wrath. Viṣṇu said: "Do not slay Vidhi (Brahmā), O Lord of beings, the creator, the lord of the worlds; he has come to you for refuge, O adorable one who is fond of those who seek refuge. I myself shall create the creatures, all of them, both moving and unmoving; or else I shall create by my own power another maker of creation. At your command I speak, O Lord: let all the gods listen, and the other sages too, fixing their mind upon the Śaiva truth."
