|| brahmovāca || iti stutiṃ ca haryādikṛtāmākarṇya śaṃkaraḥ || babhūvātiprasanno hi vijahāsa ca sūtikṛt 0 || yogayukte tvayi sadā rāga dveṣavivarjite || dayāpātraikanirate na vadhyā hyathavā tava sṛṣṭisthityaṃtakarmāṇi na kāryāṇi yadā tadā || śarīrabhedaścāsmākaṃ māyāyāśca na yujyate

Brahmā said: Hearing that praise made by Hari and the others, Śaṅkara became exceedingly pleased and laughed, he the maker of (all) begetting. "In you, ever joined to yoga, free from passion and aversion, devoted solely to those who are objects of compassion, there is indeed nothing to be slain; or rather, when the works of creation, maintenance and dissolution are not to be done, then no distinction of bodies applies to us, nor to māyā."

brahmaviṣṇū tu dṛṣṭvā tau sastrīkau saṃgatau haraḥ || yathocitaṃ samābhāṣya papracchāgamanaṃ tayoḥ tavaiva kṛpayā śaṃbhossurāṇāṃ sukhamuttamam|| nāśayitvā'surān ghorāñjagatsvāsthyaṃ sadābhayam anyacchṛṇu maheśāna pūrvavṛttaṃ smṛtaṃ mayā || yannau puraḥpurā proktaṃ tvayaiva śivarūpiṇā ucitaṃ na suraśreṣṭhau vivāhakaraṇaṃ mama || taporataviraktasya sadā viditayoginaḥ yamakṣaraṃ vedavido nigadaṃti manīṣiṇaḥ || jyotīrūpaṃ śivaṃ te ca ciṃtayiṣye sanātanam sā tapasyati deveśa tvadarthaṃ hi dṛḍhavratā || tvāṃ patiṃ prāptukāmā vai mahātejovatī satī

But Hara, seeing those two, Brahmā and Viṣṇu, come together with their wives, addressed them as was fitting and asked about the reason of their coming. "By your grace alone, O Śambhu, the highest happiness of the gods (has come about); having destroyed the terrible demons, (you gave) the world its health and lasting freedom from fear. Hear another matter, O great Lord, a past event that I remember: what was formerly spoken to us two by you yourself in the form of Śiva — 'It is not fitting, O two best of gods, that I should marry, being devoted to austerity, detached, ever known as a yogin. That imperishable which the Veda-knowing sages declare, the light-formed, eternal Śiva — him I shall meditate upon.' She, O Lord of gods, is performing austerity for your sake, firm in her vow, desiring to obtain you as husband — Satī, endowed with great splendour."

3|| ekasvarūpā hi vayaṃ bhinnāḥ kāryasya bhedataḥ || kāryabhedo na siddhaścedrūpabhedā'prayojanaḥ

For we are of one single nature, (though) divided by reason of the difference of function; if the difference of function is not established, then the difference of forms is purposeless.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

eka eva tridhā bhinnaḥ paramātmā maheśvaraḥ || māyāsvākāraṇādeva svataṃtro līlayā prabhuḥ

The supreme Self, Maheśvara, is one alone, divided in three ways; independent, he is the lord (who acts) in play, merely by making Māyā his own instrument.
