Sanatkumāra said: When the illusory Girijā there vanished as the demon lord came to battle, and the gandharva (illusion) dissolved, the bull-bannered god came to his senses. Then Jalandhara swiftly pierced him with three arrows, sunk up to the feathers, that Rudra, in the head, the chest, and the belly. Even as Rudra quickly cut apart his mass of arrows, that strong one at once struck the bull with his bludgeon. Jalandhara said: "Having crossed the drawn line and having slain you, Śaṃkara, together with your host, and having slain the worlds along with the gods, (I shall take) my own share, as Garuḍa (did) — Garuḍa too was bound by me with the serpent-noose, and Viṣṇu (likewise); Urvaśī and the other women were brought by me into the prison-house." With his fierce blood the world became filled; then the whole earth became deformed, O lord of sages.
