Sanatkumāra said: Viṣṇu, having gone to Jālandhara, the demon's fortified city, worked upon Vṛndā's mind in order to break her wifely fidelity. Then, accompanied by two friends, she came to the city's garden; but even there that young woman, having gone, found no comfort anywhere. "For Jalandhara, my husband, has gone to fight Rudra, O lord; how does he fare there in the battle? Tell me that, O you of good vows." Then, taking hold of her courage, sighing with grief and letting (tears) fall, she bowed low to that best of sages and, with joined palms, spoke. Once, at the end of intercourse, seeing that it was Viṣṇu himself, Vṛndā, filled with anger, rebuked (him) and spoke words. Thus Vṛndā, the great queen, the excellent daughter of Kālanemi, by the power of her wifely fidelity attained the highest liberation, O sage.
