With their bodies pierced by the demons' weapons, the gods together with Vāsava all fled from the battle, their minds troubled with fear. And seeing him crushing the demons, the hero, his lip quivering, came swiftly along with Hari to fight. Seeing that arrow of his coming, the demon of great strength, having cut it with an arrow, swiftly struck Viṣṇu on the chest. Then Viṣṇu, remembering Śiva's lotus feet, quickly and forcefully cut that trident with the sword named Nandaka. Sanatkumāra said: Having heard that speech of his, of Viṣṇu, of Hari the wielder of illusion, the demon king Jalandhara, of great intelligence, replied. No one there is diseased, nor sorrowful, nor emaciated, nor is anyone seen wretched, while he rules the kingdom righteously.
