Now tell of the making of the chariot, supreme and composed of the gods, the divine (chariot) that was made for Śiva's sake by the wise Viśvakarman. The mountain of setting and the mountain of rising — those two are held to be its two shafts; great Meru its base, the Kesara mountains its supports; the Gaṅgā and the other best of rivers, adorned with every ornament, the tips of their hands grasping chowries, all resplendent in the forms of women. Thus was it well made by that wise Viśvakarman — the whole design of the chariot and the rest, auspicious, by the command of Brahmā and Viṣṇu.
