Brahmā said: Having heard the words of that Vyāsa of immeasurable intelligence, Sanatkumāra, calling to mind the lotus-feet of Śiva, spoke: "And pray to Śiva, all you gods together with Vāsava; if the Lord of all is pleased, he will accomplish your task. Homage to you, who are to be known through the Vedānta, homage to you who are beyond (all) paths. Homage to you whose nature is the guṇas, who possess the guṇas (and yet) are devoid of the guṇas. Homage to you, Viṣṭaraśravas, and to you who consist of truth. Homage to you, lover of truth, truth itself, to be reached by truth. And you, O bearer of the bull-banner, are the śālagrāma stone among stones; among all worshipful forms, (you are) the liṅga of the Narmadā itself. You are the dharma of all kinsmen; you are the highest of the (four) stages of life. You are liberation among all the classes; among the Rudras you are Nīlalohita. Yet the fierce one himself seizes the shares of the sacrifice entire; unrighteousness has been set going by them, and the sages have been obstructed."
