Śiva came to the door of the house, near to the gods; and Śaṃkara, fond of his devotees, (came) to those oppressed by the demon. Saying "let him take it," he made it fall there on the ground; for the fire, urged on by all the gods, had become a dove. Pārvatī said: "Become the eater of everything, O pure one, ever afflicted in yourself; you do not know the truth of Śiva, you are a fool, a doer of the gods' business." "And we have become pregnant and are being burnt by your seed, O Śaṃbhu; show mercy, put an end to this condition." All the gods, Acyuta and the rest, became happy; they praised the supreme Lord Śaṃkara, fond of his devotees. "This energy of yours is hard to bear, O Lord Maheśvara; there is no woman in the three worlds, apart from Śakti, able to hold it in her womb." The fire, in the form of flame, vanished and swiftly went away, happy, to its own world, remembering you and that Śaṃkara in its mind. From Śivā's breasts flowed milk born of bliss; and having gone there, there was exceeding happiness for all, O sage.
