Hearing this, the mountain lord, realizing the utter separation from her, became dejected for some while out of great love, O lord of sages. — She who serves her husband with love as (she would serve) the Supreme Lord, O Śivā, having enjoyed all pleasures here, in the end (attains) the auspicious state along with her husband. When summoned, she should leave the household tasks and go to his side quickly, with palms joined, and having bowed well with affection she should speak thus. She should never rouse her husband, comfortably seated at his ease and enjoying himself as he pleases, even in pressing matters. When her beloved is glad she should be glad, and when his face is downcast she should be downcast; the goddess should be devoted to her husband, always seeking her husband's good. The father gives a limited amount, the brother a limited amount, the son a limited amount; but the husband is the giver of the unlimited, and him she should always honour. By the breaking of good conduct ill-behaved (women) cause three families to fall — the father's, the mother's, and the husband's — and they are made wretched here and hereafter. The husband is the sacred syllable, the wife is the Veda; she is forbearance, he himself is austerity; the husband is the fruit, she is the good rite: blessed are those two, husband and wife, O Śivā. Knowing this, O Śivā, service to the husband, which always grants every wish, must always be performed by you with love, O daughter of the mountain.
