And Menā, greatly blessed, adorned with garments and ornaments, taking a golden pot, took her place at Himādri's side. And you, O Nārada, knower of the Veda, played the vīṇā there, impelled in mind by Śiva, your own mind on Śambhu: "He has a good lineage and has no lineage; he is without family and of good family; by Pārvatī's austerity he is today your son-in-law, no doubt. It is for this reason that the vīṇā is played by me today, impelled in mind by the Lord of all, by Śaṅkara, O Himālaya." In this way, having placed Śivā's hand in Śiva's hand, the mountain rejoiced exceedingly in his mind, having crossed the great ocean of desire. He gave him auspicious gifts and jewels of many kinds, and vessels of many kinds wrought of beautiful gems.

In such a condition the Lord Maheśa, his face without an answer, was seen at that time by the foremost of the gods and the sages, and likewise by the hosts of gandharvas, yakṣas and siddhas; and then he made a jest of it there — that Nārada-hood of yours.
