Then, having bowed to the lord of all, you went ahead, Nārada, urged affectionately by Hari, toward the house of Himācala. Brahmā said: Having heard this speech of yours, his mind astonished, that mountain Himavat spoke a true word to you, O sage: "Why have these excellent mountains come here — Maināka, Sahya, Meru and the rest, of great splendour, well adorned?" Brahmā said: Hearing that speech of his, Indra of the gods then quickly spoke a word to Viṣṇu, his body agitated with fear: "Say quickly whether the mountain gives his own daughter or does not give her. What did you see, what did you do, having gone there — tell all that affectionately and swiftly today, dear one. For by some means or other the fruit is to be accomplished — so say the learned who know right reasoning. Therefore let all who seek the accomplishment of the task go at once, with Viṣṇu at their head."
