Sing forth to the troop that grows up together, which is powerful (as) of divine dominion. And they make the two worlds shake with (their) greatness; they reach the firmament from the bottomless (abyss) of Nirṛti.

SING to the troop that pours down rain in common, the Mighty Company of celestial nature. They make the world-halves tremble with their greatness: from depths of earth and sky they reach to heaven.

Even your birth, O Maruts, (was) with dazzling force — (you) terrible, of mighty wrath, untiring, who by (your) powers and by (your) strength stand foremost: everyone who sees the sun fears at your course.

Yea, your birth, Maruts, was with wild commotion, ye who move swiftly, fierce in wrath, terrific. Ye all-surpassing in your might and vigour, each looker on the light fears at your coming.

Aided by you, O Maruts, the inspired singer possesses hundreds; aided by you the steed is overpowering, a winner of thousands; aided by you the sovereign also slays Vṛtra — may that gift of yours come forth, O shakers.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

Compare with Ralph T.H. Griffith

Your favoured singer counts his wealth by hundreds: the strong steed whom ye favour wins a thousand. The Sovran whom ye aid destroys the foeman. May this your gift, ye Shakers, be distinguished.

Them I invite hither, (the sons) of Rudra the bounteous — will the Maruts perhaps bend toward us again? Whatever they have taken offence at in secret, whatever openly, for that offence we beg release from the swift ones.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition — the model flagged this verse as uncertain

Compare with Ralph T.H. Griffith

I call, as such, the Sons of bounteous Rudra: will not the Maruts turn again to us-ward? What secret sin or open stirs their anger, that we implore the Swift Ones to forgive us.

— tr. Ralph T.H. Griffith (1896)

RV 7 58.6

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

Compare with Ralph T.H. Griffith

This eulogy of the Bounteous hath been spoken: accept, ye Maruts, this our hymn of praises. Ye Bulls, keep those who hate us at a distance. Preserve us evermore, ye Gods, with blessings.
