RV 5 15.1

pra vedhase kavaye vedyāya giram bhare yaśase pūrvyāya | ghṛtaprasatto asuraḥ suśevo rāyo dhartā dharuṇo vasvo agniḥ

I bring forth a song to the ordainer, the sage, to him who is to be known, the glorious, the ancient one: Agni, seated in ghee, the asura, very kindly, the upholder of riches, the support of goods.

Compare with Ralph T.H. Griffith

To him, the far-renowned, the wise Ordainer, ancient and glorious, a song I offer. Enthroned in oil, the Asura, bliss-giver, is Agni, firm support of noble, riches.

— tr. Ralph T.H. Griffith (1896)

RV 5 15.2

ṛtena ṛtaṁ dharuṇaṁ dhārayanta yajñasya śāke parame vyoman | divo dharman dharuṇe seduṣo nṝñ jātair ajātām̐ abhi ye nanakṣuḥ

By ṛta they held fast the upholding ṛta, in the power of the sacrifice, in the highest heaven — the men who sit upon the support, at the ordinance of heaven, they who with the born have reached the unborn.

Compare with Ralph T.H. Griffith

By holy Law they kept supporting Order, by help of sacrifice, in loftiest heaven,– They who attained with born men to the unborn, men seated on that stay, heaven's firm sustainer.

RV 5 15.3

aṅhoyuvas tanvas tanvate vi vayo mahad duṣṭaram pūrvyāya | sa saṁvato navajātas tuturyāt siṅhaṁ na kruddham abhitaḥ pari ṣṭhuḥ

Escaping distress, they stretch out the bodies, apart — great, unsurpassable vigour for the ancient one. Newly born, may he overcome the assembled (foes); they stood around him on all sides as around an angered lion.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition — the model flagged this verse as uncertain

Compare with Ralph T.H. Griffith

Averting woe, they labour hard to bring him, the ancient, plenteous food as power resistless. May he, born newly, conquer his assailants: round him they stand as round an angry lion.

— tr. Ralph T.H. Griffith (1896)

RV 5 15.4

māteva yad bharase paprathāno janaṁ-janaṁ dhāyase cakṣase ca | vayo-vayo jarase yad dadhānaḥ pari tmanā viṣurūpo jigāsi

When, spreading out, you bear (them) like a mother, for each and every person to suckle and to see; when you grow old, taking on age after age, you go about by yourself, of varying form.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition — the model flagged this verse as uncertain

Compare with Ralph T.H. Griffith

When, like a mother, spreading forth to nourish, to cherish and regard each man that liveth,– Consuming all the strength that thou hast gotten, thou wanderest round, thyself, in varied fashion.

— tr. Ralph T.H. Griffith (1896)

RV 5 15.5

vājo nu te śavasas pātv antam uruṁ doghaṁ dharuṇaṁ deva rāyaḥ | padaṁ na tāyur guhā dadhāno maho rāye citayann atrim aspaḥ

Let Vāja indeed protect the furthest reach of your power, the broad, milk-yielding support of wealth, O god. Like a thief concealing his track, making (it) known toward great wealth, you set Atri free.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition — the model flagged this verse as uncertain

Compare with Ralph T.H. Griffith

May strength preserve the compass of thy vigour, God! that broad stream of thine that beareth riches. Thou, like a thief who keeps his refuge secret, hast holpen Atri to great wealth, by teaching.

— tr. Ralph T.H. Griffith (1896)
