Kindling Agni, he will overcome those who would attack; having made his prayer and given his oblation, he will thrive. With what is born (of him) he glides on past what is born (of another) — whomever Brahmaṇaspati makes his yoke-fellow.

HE lighting up the flame shall conquer enemies: strong shall he be who offers prayer and brings his gift. He with his seed spreads forth beyond another's seed, whomever Brahmaṇaspati takes for his friend.

— tr. Ralph T.H. Griffith (1896)

RV 2 25.2

With heroes he shall win over the heroes of those who assail (him); with cows he shall spread out wealth; he takes heed of himself. And the child and the offspring of that man grow strong — whomever Brahmaṇaspati makes his yoke-fellow.

Like a river in flood, vigorous (he goes) against the raging ones; like a bull over castrated beasts he prevails by his force. Like the onslaught of Agni, he is in no way to be turned back — whomever Brahmaṇaspati makes his yoke-fellow.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition — the model flagged this verse as uncertain

Compare with Ralph T.H. Griffith

He, mighty like a raving river's billowy flood, as a bull conquers oxen, overcomes with strength. Like Agni's blazing rush he may not be restrained, whomever Brahmaṇaspati takes for his friend.

— tr. Ralph T.H. Griffith (1896)

For him the floods of heaven flow never failing down: first with the heroes he goes forth to war for kine. He slays in unabated vigour with great might, whomever Brahmaṇaspati takes for his friend.

— tr. Ralph T.H. Griffith (1896) (public domain)

RV 2 25.5

For him indeed all the rivers roar; they have granted many shelters without a gap. Fortunate, he thrives in the favour of the gods — whomever Brahmaṇaspati makes his yoke-fellow.

AI translation rendered from the Sanskrit, not a published edition

Compare with Ralph T.H. Griffith

All roaring rivers pour their waters down for him, and many a flawless shelter hath been granted him. Blest with the happiness of Gods he prospers well, whomever Brahmaṇaspati takes for his friend.

— tr. Ralph T.H. Griffith (1896)
