उत्तर उवाच न मया निर्जिता गावो न मया निर्जिताः परे। कृतं तत् सकलं तेन देवपुत्रेण केनचित्॥
uttara uvāca na mayā nirjitā gāvo na mayā nirjitāḥ pare| kṛtaṃ tat sakalaṃ tena devaputreṇa kenacit||
Uttara said The kine have not been rescued by me nor have the enemy been defeated by me. All that has been done by the son of a celestials.

स हि भीतं द्रवन्तं मां देवपुत्रो न्यवर्तयत्। स चातिष्ठद् रथोपस्थे वज्रसंहननो युवा॥
sa hi bhītaṃ dravantaṃ māṃ devaputro nyavartayat| sa cātiṣṭhad rathopasthe vajrasaṃhanano yuvā||
Seeing me running away in fear, a youth of celestials birth, capable of wielding thunderbolt, stopped me, and got on my chariot.

तेन ता निर्जिता गावः कुरुवश्च पराजिताः। तस्य तत् कर्म वीरस्य न मया तात तत् कृतम्॥
tena tā nirjitā gāvaḥ kuruvaśca parājitāḥ| tasya tat karma vīrasya na mayā tāta tat kṛtam||
By him the kine have been rescued and the Kauravas defeated. This is the work of that hero and not mine.

स हि शारद्वतं द्रोणं द्रोणपुत्रं च घड् रथान्। सूतपुत्रं च भीष्मं च चकार विमुखाञ्छरैः॥
sa hi śāradvataṃ droṇaṃ droṇaputraṃ ca ghaḍ rathān| sūtaputraṃ ca bhīṣmaṃ ca cakāra vimukhāñcharaiḥ||
It was he who repulse with arrows the six warriors namely Kripa, Drona, Ashvathama, Karna, Bhishma and Vikarana.

दुर्योधनं विकर्णं च सनागमिव यूथपम्। प्रभग्नमब्रवीद् भीतं राजपुत्रं महाबलः॥
duryodhanaṃ vikarṇaṃ ca sanāgamiva yūthapam| prabhagnamabravīd bhītaṃ rājaputraṃ mahābalaḥ||
That highly powerful one said to the prince, Duryodhana, terrified and broken like a leader of elephant-herds.

न हास्तिनपुरे त्राणं तव पश्यामि किंचन। व्यायामेन परीप्सस्व जीवितं कौरवात्मज॥
na hāstinapure trāṇaṃ tava paśyāmi kiṃcana| vyāyāmena parīpsasva jīvitaṃ kauravātmaja||
O Kuru prince, I do not see that by any means you are safe even at Hastinapur. Protect your life by displaying your energy.

न मोक्ष्यसे पलायंस्त्वं राजन् युद्धे मनः कुरु। पृथिवीं भोक्ष्यसे जित्वा हतो वा स्वर्गमाप्स्यसि॥
na mokṣyase palāyaṃstvaṃ rājan yuddhe manaḥ kuru| pṛthivīṃ bhokṣyase jitvā hato vā svargamāpsyasi||
You will not be free by escaping. Therefore make up your mind, O king, for fight. By conquering you will enjoy the earth, and by being slain you will attain to heaven.

स निवृत्तो नरव्याघ्रो मुञ्चन् वज्रनिभाञ्छरान्। सचिवैः संवृतो राजा रथे नाग इव श्वसन्॥
sa nivṛtto naravyāghro muñcan vajranibhāñcharān| sacivaiḥ saṃvṛto rājā rathe nāga iva śvasan||
Thus addressed, the king Duryodhana, the foremost of men, sighing on his car like a snake, turned, surrounded by his ministers, and discharging thunder-like arrows.

तं दृष्ट्वा रोमहर्षोऽभूदूरुकम्बश्च मारिष। स तत्र सिंहसंकाशमनीकं व्यधमच्छरैः॥
taṃ dṛṣṭvā romaharṣo'bhūdūrukambaśca māriṣa| sa tatra siṃhasaṃkāśamanīkaṃ vyadhamaccharaiḥ||
Beholding it, my hairs stood erect and the thighs to treinble. But he struck with his arrows that army of lions.

तत् प्रणुद्य रथानीकं सिंहसंहननो युवा। कुरूंस्तान् प्रहसन् राजन् संस्थितान् हृतवाससः॥१०।
tat praṇudya rathānīkaṃ siṃhasaṃhanano yuvā| kurūṃstān prahasan rājan saṃsthitān hṛtavāsasaḥ||10|
Having assailed those mighty car-warriors the Kurus. O king, the youth, powerful as a lion, laughed and stripped them off their robes.

एकेन तेन वीरेण षड् रथा: परिनिर्जिताः। शार्दूलेनेव मत्तेन यथा वनचरा मृगाः॥
ekena tena vīreṇa ṣaḍ rathā: parinirjitāḥ| śārdūleneva mattena yathā vanacarā mṛgāḥ||
Those six great Kuru car-warriors were defeated by that hero alone, as animals, ranging in the forest, are killed by a single angry tiger."

विराट उवाच क्व स वीरो महाबाहुर्देवपुत्रो महायशाः। यो मे धनमथाजैषीत् कुरुभिर्मस्तमाहवे॥ इच्छामि तमहं द्रष्टुमचितुं च महाबलम्। येन मे त्वं च गावश्च रक्षिता देवसूनुना॥
virāṭa uvāca kva sa vīro mahābāhurdevaputro mahāyaśāḥ| yo me dhanamathājaiṣīt kurubhirmastamāhave|| icchāmi tamahaṃ draṣṭumacituṃ ca mahābalam| yena me tvaṃ ca gāvaśca rakṣitā devasūnunā||
Virata said-Dear son! Tell me where that illustrious and chivalrous angel who has won my cows once taken in possession by Kauravas in battle? I want to see and honour that angel for his valour who have defended you including all cows.

उत्तर उवाच अन्तर्धानं गतस्तत्र देवपुत्रो महाबलः। स तु श्वो वा परश्वो वा मन्ये प्रादुर्भविष्यति।॥
uttara uvāca antardhānaṃ gatastatra devaputro mahābalaḥ| sa tu śvo vā paraśvo vā manye prādurbhaviṣyati|||
Uttara replied-"Dear father! That mighty angel had vanished there but I am sure enough that he will again appear here either tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

वैशम्पायन उवाच एवमाख्यायमानं तु छन्नं सत्रेण पाण्डवम्। वसन्तं तत्र नाज्ञासीद् विराटो वाहिनीपतिः॥
vaiśampāyana uvāca evamākhyāyamānaṃ tu channaṃ satreṇa pāṇḍavam| vasantaṃ tatra nājñāsīd virāṭo vāhinīpatiḥ||
Vaishampayana says-O Janamejaya! In spite of told impliedly, the king Virata could not recognise Arjuna, the son of Pandu living those hideously as an eunuch.

ततः पार्थोऽभ्यनुज्ञातो विराटेन महात्मना। प्रददौ तानि वासांसि विराटदुहितुः स्वयम्॥
tataḥ pārtho'bhyanujñāto virāṭena mahātmanā| pradadau tāni vāsāṃsi virāṭaduhituḥ svayam||
Arjuna, in disguise of Brihannala then gave all garments took-off from the bodies of great commanders (rathis) to Uttara, daughter of Virata in compliance with the king's order.

उत्तरा तु महार्हाणि विविधानि नवानि च। प्रतिगृह्याभवत् प्रीता तानि वासांसि भामिनी॥ मन्त्रयित्वा तु कौन्तेय उत्तरेण महात्मना। इतिकर्तव्यतां सर्वां राजन् पार्थे युधिष्ठिरे॥ ततस्तथा तद् व्यदधाद् यथावत् पुरुषर्षभ। सह पुत्रेण मत्स्यस्य प्रहृष्टा भरतर्षभाः॥
uttarā tu mahārhāṇi vividhāni navāni ca| pratigṛhyābhavat prītā tāni vāsāṃsi bhāminī|| mantrayitvā tu kaunteya uttareṇa mahātmanā| itikartavyatāṃ sarvāṃ rājan pārthe yudhiṣṭhire|| tatastathā tad vyadadhād yathāvat puruṣarṣabha| saha putreṇa matsyasya prahṛṣṭā bharatarṣabhāḥ||
Uttara was exhilarated while receiving those various new and precious garments. O Janamejaya! Arjuna, the son of Kunti consulted the prince Uttara regarding revealing actual identity of Yudhishthira and decided duly all other affairs which were to be executed. O king! He then in a systematic manner, executed all affairs. Pandava, the greatest jewel to Bharata dynasty, exhilarated when all that arrangement was made in company of Uttara.
