वैशम्पायन उवाच पार्थः प्राप्य धनुः श्रेष्ठमक्षय्यौ च महेषुधी। रथं ध्वजं सभां चैव युधिष्ठिरमभाषत॥
vaiśampāyana uvāca pārthaḥ prāpya dhanuḥ śreṣṭhamakṣayyau ca maheṣudhī| rathaṃ dhvajaṃ sabhāṃ caiva yudhiṣṭhiramabhāṣata||
Vaishampayana said Having obtained that best of bows (Gandiva) and the couple of inexhaustible quivers and the car and the (ape standard) flagstaff, Arjuna spoke to Yudhishthira thus.

अर्जुन उवाच धनुरस्त्रं शरा वीर्यं पक्षो भूमिर्यशो बलम्। प्राप्तमेतन्मया राजन् दुष्प्रापं यदभीप्सितम्॥
arjuna uvāca dhanurastraṃ śarā vīryaṃ pakṣo bhūmiryaśo balam| prāptametanmayā rājan duṣprāpaṃ yadabhīpsitam||
Arjuna said O king, bow, weapons, great prowess, allies, dominions, fame, troops, all these have been obtained by me, though they are all difficult to be gained, however a man may desire to have them.

तत्र कृत्यमहं मन्ये कोशस्य परिवधनम्। करमाहारयिष्यामि राज्ञः सर्वान् नृपोत्तम॥
tatra kṛtyamahaṃ manye kośasya parivadhanam| karamāhārayiṣyāmi rājñaḥ sarvān nṛpottama||
O best of kings, I think we should now do that by which we shall be able to increase our treasury. I desire to make the (other) kings pay tribute to us.

विजयाय प्रयास्यामि दिशं धनदपालिताम्। तिथावथ मुहूर्ते च नक्षत्रे चाभिपूजिते॥
vijayāya prayāsyāmi diśaṃ dhanadapālitām| tithāvatha muhūrte ca nakṣatre cābhipūjite||
I shall start, in an auspicious moment of a holy day of the moon under a favourable constellation, to conquer the kingdoms situated in the quarter protected by the lord of wealth (Kubera).

vaiśampāyana uvāca dhanaṃjayavacaḥ śrutvā dharmarājo yudhiṣṭhiraḥ| snigdhagambhīranādinyā taṃ girā pratyabhāṣata|||
Vaishampayana said Having heard the words of Dhananjaya (Arjuna), Dharmaraja Yudhishthira thus replied to him in a grave and calm voice.

स्वस्तिवाच्याहतो विप्रान् प्रयाहि भरतर्षभ। दुर्हदामप्रहर्षाय सुहृदां नन्दनाय च॥
svastivācyāhato viprān prayāhi bharatarṣabha| durhadāmapraharṣāya suhṛdāṃ nandanāya ca||
Yudhishthira said O best of the Bharata race, start but first cause the holy Brahmanas to utter benedictions on you, so that you may plunge your enemies into grief and make your friends happy.

विजयस्ते ध्रुवं पार्थ प्रियं काममवाप्स्यसि। इत्युक्तः प्रययौ पार्थः सैन्येन महताऽऽवृतः॥
vijayaste dhruvaṃ pārtha priyaṃ kāmamavāpsyasi| ityuktaḥ prayayau pārthaḥ sainyena mahatā''vṛtaḥ||
O Partha, victory will surely be yours. Your desires will surely be fulfilled. Vaishampayana said Having been thus addressed, Arjuna, surrounded by a large number of troops, started (for conquest).

अग्निदत्तेन दिव्येन रथेनाद्भुतकर्मणा। तथैव भीमसेनोऽपि यमौ च पुरुषर्षभौ॥ ससैन्याः प्रययुः सर्वे धर्मराजेन पूजिताः। दिशं धनपतेरिष्टामजयत् पाकशासनिः॥
agnidattena divyena rathenādbhutakarmaṇā| tathaiva bhīmaseno'pi yamau ca puruṣarṣabhau|| sasainyāḥ prayayuḥ sarve dharmarājena pūjitāḥ| diśaṃ dhanapateriṣṭāmajayat pākaśāsaniḥ||
He started on the celestials car of great deeds which he has obtained from Agni. Bhimasena, and those best of men the longarmed twins Nakul and Sahadeva, also having been affectionately worshipped by Dharmaraja Yudhishthira, started (for conquest). The son of the chastiser of Paka (Arjuna) conquered all the countries situated in the direction protected by the lord of wealth (Kubera).

भीमसेनस्तथा प्राची सहदेवस्तु दक्षिणाम्। प्रतीची नकुलो राजन् दिशं व्यजयतास्त्रवित्॥
bhīmasenastathā prācī sahadevastu dakṣiṇām| pratīcī nakulo rājan diśaṃ vyajayatāstravit||
O king, Bhimasena conquered the East, Sahadeva, the South, and well skilled in arms, Nakula, conquered the west.

खाण्डवप्रस्थमध्यस्थो धर्मराजो युधिष्ठिरः। आसीत् परमया लक्ष्म्या सुहृद्गणवृतः प्रभुः॥
khāṇḍavaprasthamadhyastho dharmarājo yudhiṣṭhiraḥ| āsīt paramayā lakṣmyā suhṛdgaṇavṛtaḥ prabhuḥ||
Surrounded by his friends and relatives, the lord Dharmaraja Yudhishthira lived in the enjoyment of great affluence with in Khandavaprastha.
