नारद उवाच युधिष्ठिर सभा दिव्या वरुणस्यामितप्रभा। प्रमाणेन यथा याम्या शुभप्राकारतोरणा॥
nārada uvāca yudhiṣṭhira sabhā divyā varuṇasyāmitaprabhā| pramāṇena yathā yāmyā śubhaprākāratoraṇā||
Narada said O Yudhishthira, the celestials Sabha of Varuna is matchless. Its dimension is exactly like that of Yama. It is adorned with white walls and arches.

अन्त:सलिलमास्थाय विहिता विश्वकर्मणा। दिव्यै रत्नमयैर्वृक्षैः फलपुष्पप्रदैर्युता॥
anta:salilamāsthāya vihitā viśvakarmaṇā| divyai ratnamayairvṛkṣaiḥ phalapuṣpapradairyutā||
It is built by Vishvakarma under the waters, it is surrounded on all sides by many celestials trees made of gems and jewels and producing excellent fruits and flowers.

नीलपीतासिदश्यामैः सितैलॊहितकैरपि। अवतानैस्तथा गुल्मैर्मञ्जरीजालधारिभिः॥
nīlapītāsidaśyāmaiḥ sitailòhitakairapi| avatānaistathā gulmairmañjarījāladhāribhiḥ||
Many plants with blue, yellow, black, dark, white and red blossoms has formed themselves into excellent bowers.

तथा शकुनयस्तस्यां विचित्रा मधुरस्वराः। अनिर्देश्या वपुष्मन्तः शतशोऽथ सहस्रशः॥
tathā śakunayastasyāṃ vicitrā madhurasvarāḥ| anirdeśyā vapuṣmantaḥ śataśo'tha sahasraśaḥ||
Hundreds and thousands of beautiful and variegated birds of various species always pour forth their melodies within them.

सा सभा सुखसंस्पर्शा न शीता न च धर्मदा। वेश्मासनवती रम्या सिता वरुणपालिता॥ यस्यामास्ते स वरुणो वारण्या च समन्वितः। दिव्यरत्नाम्बरधरो दिव्याभरणभूषितः॥
sā sabhā sukhasaṃsparśā na śītā na ca dharmadā| veśmāsanavatī ramyā sitā varuṇapālitā|| yasyāmāste sa varuṇo vāraṇyā ca samanvitaḥ| divyaratnāmbaradharo divyābharaṇabhūṣitaḥ||
That Sabha is very delightful, it is neither cold nor hot. It is ruled by Varuna, and it consists many rooms furnished with many charming seats. Here sits Varuna with his queen (Varuni) adorned with celestials ornaments and jewels.

स्रग्विणो दिव्यगन्धाश्च दिव्यगन्धानुलेपनाः। आदित्यास्तत्र वरुणं जलेश्वरमुपासते॥
sragviṇo divyagandhāśca divyagandhānulepanāḥ| ādityāstatra varuṇaṃ jaleśvaramupāsate||
Adorned with celestials garlands, perfumed with celestials scents and besmeared with paste of celestials fragrance, the Adityas wait there upon the lord of waters Varuna.

वासुकिस्तक्षश्चैव नागचैरावतस्तथा। कृष्णश्च लोहितश्चैव पद्मश्चित्रश्च वीर्यवान्॥ कम्बलाश्वतरौ नागौ धृतराष्ट्रबलाहको। मणिमान् कुण्डधारश्च कर्कोटकधनंजयौ॥ पाणिमान् कुण्डधारश्च बलवान् पृथिवीपते। प्रह्लादो मूषिकादश्च तथैव जनमेजयः॥ पताकिनो मण्डलिनः फणावन्तश्च सर्वशः। एते चान्ये च बहवः सर्पास्तस्यां युधिष्ठिर। उपासते महात्मानं वरुणं विगतक्लमाः॥ बलिर्वैरोचनो राजा नरकः पृथिवींजयः। प्रह्लादो विप्रचित्तिश्च कालखञ्जाश्च दानवाः॥
vāsukistakṣaścaiva nāgacairāvatastathā| kṛṣṇaśca lohitaścaiva padmaścitraśca vīryavān|| kambalāśvatarau nāgau dhṛtarāṣṭrabalāhako| maṇimān kuṇḍadhāraśca karkoṭakadhanaṃjayau|| pāṇimān kuṇḍadhāraśca balavān pṛthivīpate| prahlādo mūṣikādaśca tathaiva janamejayaḥ|| patākino maṇḍalinaḥ phaṇāvantaśca sarvaśaḥ| ete cānye ca bahavaḥ sarpāstasyāṃ yudhiṣṭhira| upāsate mahātmānaṃ varuṇaṃ vigataklamāḥ|| balirvairocano rājā narakaḥ pṛthivīṃjayaḥ| prahlādo vipracittiśca kālakhañjāśca dānavāḥ||
O Lord of the earth, Vasuki, Takshaka, the Naga, named Airavata, Krishna, Lohita, Padma, the powerful Chitra, the Nagas called Kambalas, Ashvatara, Dhritarashtra, Balahaka, Maniman, Kundadhara, Karkate, Dhananjaya, Paniman, the powerful Kundaka, Pralhada, Mushikada, Janamejaya, all having auspicious marks and Mandalas and board hoods, these and many other Nagas, O Yudhishthira, wait without any anxiety upon the illustrious Varuna. O king, the son of Virochana, Bali, the subjugator of the earth, Naraka.

सुहनुर्दुर्मुखः शङ्खः सुमनाः सुमतिस्ततः। घटोदरो महापार्श्वः क्रथनः पिद्दरस्तथा॥ विश्वरूपः स्वरूपश्च विरूपोऽथ महाशिराः। दशग्रीवश्च वाली च मेघवासा दशावरः॥ टिट्टिभो विटभूतश्च संहादश्चेन्द्रतापनः। दैत्यदानवसङ्घाश्च सर्वे रुचिरकुण्डलाः॥
suhanurdurmukhaḥ śaṅkhaḥ sumanāḥ sumatistataḥ| ghaṭodaro mahāpārśvaḥ krathanaḥ piddarastathā|| viśvarūpaḥ svarūpaśca virūpo'tha mahāśirāḥ| daśagrīvaśca vālī ca meghavāsā daśāvaraḥ|| ṭiṭṭibho viṭabhūtaśca saṃhādaścendratāpanaḥ| daityadānavasaṅghāśca sarve rucirakuṇḍalāḥ||
Sangradha, Viprachitti, those Danavas, called Kalakhanja, Suhanu, Durmukha, Shankha, Sumana, Sumati, Ghatodara, Mahaparshva, Krathana, Pithara, Vishvarupa, Svarupa, Virupa, Mahashira, Dasagriva, Bali, Meghavara,, Dasavara, Tittibha, Vitabhuta, Sanghrada, Indratapana, these Daityas and Danavas all adorned with ear-rings.

स्रग्विणो मौलिनश्चैव तथा दिव्यपरिच्छदाः। सर्वे लब्धवराः शूराः सर्वे विगतमृत्यवः॥ ते तस्यां वरुणं देवं धर्मपाशधरं सदा। उपासते महात्मानं सर्वे सुचरितव्रताः॥ तथा समुद्राश्चत्वारो नदी भागीरथी च सा। कालिन्दी विदिशा वेणा नर्मदा वेगवाहिनी॥ विपाशा च शतदुश्च चन्द्रभागा सरस्वती। इरावती वितस्ता च सिन्धुर्देवनदी तथा॥ गोदावरी कृष्णवेणा कावेरी च सरिद्वरा। किम्पुना च विशल्या च तथा वैतरणी नदी॥ तृतीया ज्येष्ठिला चैव शोणश्चापि महानदः। चर्मण्वती तथा चैव पर्णाशा च महानदी॥ सरयूरवत्याथ लागली च सरिद्वरा। करतोया तथात्रेयी लौहित्यश्च महानदः॥ लङ्घत्ती गोमती चैव संध्या त्रिःस्रोतसी तथा। एताश्चान्याश्च राजेन्द्र सुतीर्था लोकविश्रुताः॥
sragviṇo maulinaścaiva tathā divyaparicchadāḥ| sarve labdhavarāḥ śūrāḥ sarve vigatamṛtyavaḥ|| te tasyāṃ varuṇaṃ devaṃ dharmapāśadharaṃ sadā| upāsate mahātmānaṃ sarve sucaritavratāḥ|| tathā samudrāścatvāro nadī bhāgīrathī ca sā| kālindī vidiśā veṇā narmadā vegavāhinī|| vipāśā ca śataduśca candrabhāgā sarasvatī| irāvatī vitastā ca sindhurdevanadī tathā|| godāvarī kṛṣṇaveṇā kāverī ca saridvarā| kimpunā ca viśalyā ca tathā vaitaraṇī nadī|| tṛtīyā jyeṣṭhilā caiva śoṇaścāpi mahānadaḥ| carmaṇvatī tathā caiva parṇāśā ca mahānadī|| sarayūravatyātha lāgalī ca saridvarā| karatoyā tathātreyī lauhityaśca mahānadaḥ|| laṅghattī gomatī caiva saṃdhyā triḥsrotasī tathā| etāścānyāśca rājendra sutīrthā lokaviśrutāḥ||
Floral garlands and crowns and attired in celestials robes, all blessed with boons and possessed of great bravery and immortality all well-conducted and of excellent vows, wait upon the illustrious Varuna, the wielder of the noose (as his weapon). O king, there (wait upon him) the four oceans, the rivers Bhagirathi, the Kalindi, the Vidisha, the Vena, the rapid Narmada, the Vipasha, the Shatadru, the Chandrabhaga, the Sarasvati, the Iravati, the Vitasta, the Sindhu, the Devanadi, the Godavari, the Krishnavena, the queen of river, Kaveri, the Kimpuna, the Vishalya, the Vaitarini, the Tritiya, the Jyesthila, the great river Parnasha, the Sarayu, the Varavatya, that queen of rivers the Langali, the Karatoya, the Atreyi, the red Mahanada, the Laghanti, the Gomati, the Sandhya, and the Trisrotasi, these and many others, all scared and famous pilgrimages,

सरितः सर्वतश्चान्यास्तीर्थानि च सरांसि च। कूपाश्च सप्रस्रवणा देहवन्तो युधिष्ठिर॥ पल्वलानि तडागानि देहवन्त्यथ भारत। दिशस्तथा मही चैव तथा सर्वे महीधराः॥ उपासते महात्मानं सर्वे जलचरास्तथा। गीतवादित्रवन्तश्च गन्धर्वाप्सरसां गणाः॥
saritaḥ sarvataścānyāstīrthāni ca sarāṃsi ca| kūpāśca saprasravaṇā dehavanto yudhiṣṭhira|| palvalāni taḍāgāni dehavantyatha bhārata| diśastathā mahī caiva tathā sarve mahīdharāḥ|| upāsate mahātmānaṃ sarve jalacarāstathā| gītavāditravantaśca gandharvāpsarasāṃ gaṇāḥ||
All other rivers, scared Tirthas, lakes wells, springs, tanks, large and small, all in their personified forms, the points of heavens, the earth, all the mountains, every species of aquatic animals, O Yudhishthira, O descendant of Bharata, all these wait upon the illustrious (Varuna). The Gandharvas and the Apsaras, experts in vocal and instrumental music.

स्तुवन्तो वरुणं तस्यां सर्व एव समासते। महीधरा रत्नवन्तो रसा ये च प्रतिष्ठिताः॥
stuvanto varuṇaṃ tasyāṃ sarva eva samāsate| mahīdharā ratnavanto rasā ye ca pratiṣṭhitāḥ||
Wait there upon Varuna singing his eulogistic songs. All the mountains, that are rich in jewels and that are charming,

कथयन्तः सुमधुराः कथास्तत्र समासते। वारुणश्च तथा मन्त्री सुनाभः पर्युपासते॥ पुत्रपौत्रैः परिवृतो गोनाम्ना पुष्करेण च। सर्वे विग्रहवन्तस्ते तमीश्वरमुपासते॥
kathayantaḥ sumadhurāḥ kathāstatra samāsate| vāruṇaśca tathā mantrī sunābhaḥ paryupāsate|| putrapautraiḥ parivṛto gonāmnā puṣkareṇa ca| sarve vigrahavantaste tamīśvaramupāsate||
Are present there engaged in sweet conversation. Varuna's minister named Sunabha, surrounded by his and grandsons, wait upon him along with the Pushkara Tirtha, called “Go". All these in their personified forms worship that deity Varuna.

एषा मया सम्पतता वारुणी भरतर्षभ। दृष्टपूर्वा सभा रम्या कुबेरस्य सभां शृणु॥
eṣā mayā sampatatā vāruṇī bharatarṣabha| dṛṣṭapūrvā sabhā ramyā kuberasya sabhāṃ śṛṇu||
O best of the Bharata race, such is the charming assembly-hall of Varuna that I saw before in my travel. Here now about the assembly-hall of Kubera. sons
