नारद उवाच शक्रस्य तु सभा दिव्या भास्वरा कर्मनिर्मिता। स्वयं शक्रेण कौरव्य निर्जितार्कसमप्रभा॥

nārada uvāca śakrasya tu sabhā divyā bhāsvarā karmanirmitā| svayaṃ śakreṇa kauravya nirjitārkasamaprabhā||

Narada said The celestials Sabha of Shakra (Indra) is full of lustre; and it was obtained by him as the fruit of his actions. O descendant of Kuru, it was made by Shakra (Indra) himself as effulgent as the Sun.

विस्तीर्णा योजनशतं शतमध्यर्धमायता। वैहायसी कामगमा पञ्चयोजनमुच्छ्रिता॥

vistīrṇā yojanaśataṃ śatamadhyardhamāyatā| vaihāyasī kāmagamā pañcayojanamucchritā||

Its breadth is one hundred Yojanas, its length is also one hundred and fifty Yojanas; it is five Yojanas in height. It can go anywhere at will.

जराशोकक्लमापेता निरातङ्का शिवा शुभा। वेश्मासनवती रम्या दिव्यपादपशोभिता॥

jarāśokaklamāpetā nirātaṅkā śivā śubhā| veśmāsanavatī ramyā divyapādapaśobhitā||

It dispels decrepitude, grief, fatigue, and fear; it is beneficial and auspicious, it is furnished with rooms and seats, it is charming and adorned with celestials trees.

तस्यां देवेश्वरः पार्थ सभायां परमासने। आस्ते शच्या महेन्द्राण्या श्रिया लक्ष्म्या च भारत॥४।

tasyāṃ deveśvaraḥ pārtha sabhāyāṃ paramāsane| āste śacyā mahendrāṇyā śriyā lakṣmyā ca bhārata||4|

O son of Pritha, O descendant of Bharata, in that Sabha sits on an excellent seat the lord of the celestialss with his wife Sachi who is the embodiment of beauty and wealth.

बिभ्रद् वपुरनिर्देश्यं किरीटी लोहिताङ्गदः। विरजोऽम्बरश्चित्रमाल्यो ह्रीकीर्तिद्युतिभिः सह॥

bibhrad vapuranirdeśyaṃ kirīṭī lohitāṅgadaḥ| virajo'mbaraścitramālyo hrīkīrtidyutibhiḥ saha||

With an indescribable vague from, with a crown on his head, with bright bracelets on the upper arms, attired in pure white robes, and adorned with many colored garlands, he sits there with Beauty, Fame and Glory by his side.

तस्यामुपासते नित्यं महात्मानं शतक्रतुम्। मरुतः सर्वशो राजन् सर्वे च गृहमेधिनः॥

tasyāmupāsate nityaṃ mahātmānaṃ śatakratum| marutaḥ sarvaśo rājan sarve ca gṛhamedhinaḥ||

There daily wait upon that illustrious deity of one thousand sacrifices (Indra) all the Marutas that lead the life of house holders,

सिद्धा देवर्षयश्चैव साध्या देवगणास्तथा। मरुत्वन्तश्च सहिता भास्वन्तो हेममालिनः॥

siddhā devarṣayaścaiva sādhyā devagaṇāstathā| marutvantaśca sahitā bhāsvanto hemamālinaḥ||

The Siddhas, the celestials Rishi, the Sadhyas the celestialss, and celestialss, and the bright complexioned Marutas adorned with golden garlands;

एते सानुचराः सर्वे दिव्यरूपाः स्वलंकृताः। उपासते महात्मानं देवराजमरिंदमम्॥

ete sānucarāḥ sarve divyarūpāḥ svalaṃkṛtāḥ| upāsate mahātmānaṃ devarājamariṃdamam||

These with their followers all possessing celestials forms and adorned with ornaments always wait upon and worship the illustrious chastiser of foes, the lord of the celestialss.

तथा देवर्षयः सर्वे पार्थ शक्रमुपासते। अमला धूतपाप्मानो दीप्यमाना इवाग्नयः॥

tathā devarṣayaḥ sarve pārtha śakramupāsate| amalā dhūtapāpmāno dīpyamānā ivāgnayaḥ||

O son of Pritha, there wait upon Shakra (Indra) all the celestials Rishis of pure soul, all as the fire, and all whose sins are completely washed off,

तेजस्विनः सोमसुतो विशोका विगतज्वराः। पराशरः पर्वतश्च तथा सावर्णिगालवौ॥

tejasvinaḥ somasuto viśokā vigatajvarāḥ| parāśaraḥ parvataśca tathā sāvarṇigālavau||

All that are energetic, without grief of any kind, and without any fever (of anxiety), all performers of performers of Soma sacrifice. Parashara, Parvata, Savarni, Galava.

शङ्खच लिखितश्चैव तथा गौरशिरा मुनिः। दुर्वासाः क्रोधनः श्येनस्तथा दीर्घतमा मुनिः॥ पवित्रपाणिः सावर्णिर्याज्ञवल्क्योऽथ भालुकिः। उद्दालकः श्वेतकेतुस्ताण्ड्यो भाण्डायनिस्तथा॥ हविष्मांश्च गरिष्ठश्च हरिश्चन्द्रश्च पार्थिवः। हृद्यश्चोदरशाण्डिल्यः पाराशर्यः कृषीवलः॥ वातस्कन्धो विशाखश्च विधाता काल एव च। करालदन्तस्त्वष्टा च विश्वकर्मा च तुम्बुकः॥

śaṅkhaca likhitaścaiva tathā gauraśirā muniḥ| durvāsāḥ krodhanaḥ śyenastathā dīrghatamā muniḥ|| pavitrapāṇiḥ sāvarṇiryājñavalkyo'tha bhālukiḥ| uddālakaḥ śvetaketustāṇḍyo bhāṇḍāyanistathā|| haviṣmāṃśca gariṣṭhaśca hariścandraśca pārthivaḥ| hṛdyaścodaraśāṇḍilyaḥ pārāśaryaḥ kṛṣīvalaḥ|| vātaskandho viśākhaśca vidhātā kāla eva ca| karāladantastvaṣṭā ca viśvakarmā ca tumbukaḥ||

अयोनिजा योनिजाश्च वायुभक्षा हुताशिनः। ईशानं सर्वलोकस्य वज्रिणं समुपासते॥ सहदेवः सुनीथश्च वाल्मीकिश्च महातपाः। शमीकः सत्यवाक् चैव प्रचेताः सत्यसंगरः॥ मेधातिथिर्वामदेवः पुलस्त्यः पुलहः क्रतुः। मरुत्तश्च मरीचिश्च स्थाणुश्चात्र महातपाः॥ कक्षीवान् गौतमस्तार्श्वस्तथा वैश्वानरो मुनिः। मुनिः कालकवृक्षीय आश्राव्योऽथ हिरण्मयः॥ संवर्तो देवहव्यश्च विष्वक्सेनश्च वीर्यवान्। दिव्या आपस्तथौषध्यः श्रद्धा मेधा सरस्वती॥

ayonijā yonijāśca vāyubhakṣā hutāśinaḥ| īśānaṃ sarvalokasya vajriṇaṃ samupāsate|| sahadevaḥ sunīthaśca vālmīkiśca mahātapāḥ| śamīkaḥ satyavāk caiva pracetāḥ satyasaṃgaraḥ|| medhātithirvāmadevaḥ pulastyaḥ pulahaḥ kratuḥ| maruttaśca marīciśca sthāṇuścātra mahātapāḥ|| kakṣīvān gautamastārśvastathā vaiśvānaro muniḥ| muniḥ kālakavṛkṣīya āśrāvyo'tha hiraṇmayaḥ|| saṃvarto devahavyaśca viṣvaksenaśca vīryavān| divyā āpastathauṣadhyaḥ śraddhā medhā sarasvatī||

Some born of women, some not born of women; some living on air, some on fire, (all these Rishis) worship the wielder of thunder (Indra), the lord of all the world. Sahadeva, Sunitha, the greatly ascetic Valmiki, Shamika of truthful speech promise keeping Prachetas, Meghatithi, Vamadeva, Pulastya, Pulaha, and Kratu Marutta, Marichi, greatly ascetic Sthanu Kakshivan, Goutama, Tarkshya, the Rishi Vaishvanara, the Rishi Kalakavrikshiya, Ashravya, Hiranmaya, Samvartta, Devahavya, greatly powerful Vishvaksena, Kanwa, Katyayana, Garga, Kaushika-(all these) and the celestials waters and plants, faith, Intelligence and the goddess of learning,

अर्थो धर्मश्च कामश्च विद्युतश्चैव पाण्डव। जलवाहस्तथा मेघा वायवः स्तनयित्नवः॥

artho dharmaśca kāmaśca vidyutaścaiva pāṇḍava| jalavāhastathā meghā vāyavaḥ stanayitnavaḥ||

Dharma, Artha and Kama also lightning, clouds charged with rains, the winds, all the loud-sounding forces of heaven.

प्राची दिग् यज्ञवाहाश्च पावकाः सप्तविंशतिः। अग्नीषोमौ तथेन्द्राग्नी मित्रश्च सवितार्यमा॥

prācī dig yajñavāhāśca pāvakāḥ saptaviṃśatiḥ| agnīṣomau tathendrāgnī mitraśca savitāryamā||

The eastern point, the twenty seven fires conveying the sacrificial Ghee, Agni, Soma, the fire of Indra, Mitra, Savitri and Aryama.

भगो विश्वे च साध्याश्च गुरुः शुक्रस्तथैव च। विश्वावसुश्चित्रसेनः सुमनस्तरुणस्तथा॥

bhago viśve ca sādhyāśca guruḥ śukrastathaiva ca| viśvāvasuścitrasenaḥ sumanastaruṇastathā||

Bhaga, Vishva, the Sadhyas, the preceptor (Brihaspati), Shukra, Vishvavasu, Chitrasena, Sumana, Taruna.

यज्ञाश्च दक्षिणाश्चैवं ग्रहास्ताराश्च भारत। यज्ञवाहश्च ये मन्त्राः सर्वे तत्र समासते॥

yajñāśca dakṣiṇāścaivaṃ grahāstārāśca bhārata| yajñavāhaśca ye mantrāḥ sarve tatra samāsate||

The sacrificial Dakshinas (gifts to Brahmanas), the planets, the starts, the Mantras which are uttered in sacrifices, O descendant of Bharata, all these are present there.

तथैवाप्सरसो राजन् गन्धर्वाश्च मनोरमाः। नृत्यवादित्रगीतैश्च हास्यैश्च विविधैरपि।॥ रमयन्ति स्म नृपते देवराजं शतक्रतुम्। स्तुतिभिर्मङ्गलैश्चैव स्तुवन्तः कर्मभिस्तथा॥ विक्रमैश्च महात्मानं बलवृत्रनिषूदनम्। ब्रह्मराजर्षयश्चैव सर्वे देवर्षयस्तथा।॥

tathaivāpsaraso rājan gandharvāśca manoramāḥ| nṛtyavāditragītaiśca hāsyaiśca vividhairapi||| ramayanti sma nṛpate devarājaṃ śatakratum| stutibhirmaṅgalaiścaiva stuvantaḥ karmabhistathā|| vikramaiśca mahātmānaṃ balavṛtraniṣūdanam| brahmarājarṣayaścaiva sarve devarṣayastathā|||

O king, many charming Apsaras and Gandharvas gratify there the lord of the celestialss, Shatakratu, (Indra) with their various kinds of dances and vocal and instrumental music, with the practice of auspicious rites, and with the exhibition of many skillful feats. They gratify there the illustrious slayer of Vitra and Vala with their various skill. The Brahmana Rishis, all the royal and celestials sages,

विमानैर्विविधैर्दिव्यैर्दीप्यमाना इवाग्नयः। स्रग्विणो भूषिताः सर्वे यान्ति चायान्ति चापरे॥

vimānairvividhairdivyairdīpyamānā ivāgnayaḥ| sragviṇo bhūṣitāḥ sarve yānti cāyānti cāpare||

As effulgent as fire, adorned with garlands and ornaments often come to and go from that celestials assembly-hall riding on various kinds of celestials cars.

बृहस्पतिश्च शुक्रश्च नित्यमास्तां हि तत्र वै। एते चान्ये च बहवो महात्मानो यतव्रताः॥

bṛhaspatiśca śukraśca nityamāstāṃ hi tatra vai| ete cānye ca bahavo mahātmāno yatavratāḥ||

Brihaspati and Shukra are always present there on the occasions. These and many other illustrious Rishis of rigid vows.

विमानैश्चन्द्रसंकाशैः सोमवत्प्रियदर्शनाः। ब्रह्मणः सदृशा राजन् भृगुः सप्तर्षयस्तथा॥

vimānaiścandrasaṃkāśaiḥ somavatpriyadarśanāḥ| brahmaṇaḥ sadṛśā rājan bhṛguḥ saptarṣayastathā||

O king, Bhrigu and the seven Rishis who are equal to Brahma himself, use always to come to and go from that assembly-hall, riding on cars as beautiful as the car of Soma.

एषा सभा मया राजन् दृष्टा पुष्करमालिनी। शतक्रतोर्महाबाहो याम्यामपि सभां शृणु॥

eṣā sabhā mayā rājan dṛṣṭā puṣkaramālinī| śatakratormahābāho yāmyāmapi sabhāṃ śṛṇu||

O king, I have seen this Sabha, named Pushkaramalini of the deity of one thousand sacrifices (Indra). Here about the assembly-hall of Yama. now
