With a diadem of the colour of the sun, flashing like lightning, his face ever adorned by two divine earrings, adorned with the ornaments of the gods by a pendant of five clusters, and by (an ornament) lovely as a thousand-petalled lotus that served as an adornment of his body, gazing with his thousand eyes that take the form he wishes, with (a voice) that thunders like a cloud, meant for commanding the thirty (gods)—Śakra made obeisance and said, "It is to be forgiven," and he praised Hari, Viṣṇu, adorned in the garb of a cowherd: "Homage to you, lord of the gods of gods, bringer into being of the maker of beings; homage to you, whose seed is gold, giver of soma. Homage, O you whose meaning is the one truth of the Veda, O awakener, O you who awaken to that; homage to him who is expressed by the praṇava, and homage, homage to the expresser. Homage to you of universal form, homage to you who are the welfare of the world; homage to you disguised as a cowherd, homage to the holder-up of Govardhana. Homage to you of ancient form, homage to you, slayer of Madhu. Or what is (the use) of this obeisance, lord of the world, Keśava? Whatever forms there are of the god of gods, O you who are more fully embodied—homage to them, to all of them, O Viṣṇu, giver of all desires. What I have done must be forgiven me, lord of the gods, O delight of the cowherds, whether from ignorance or from knowledge, or from anger, O delight of the Yadus. Anger flares up towards those who are capable and those who are not, O lord; you are not to be chastised by anyone, for you are the chastiser of all, O lord. All this Indra-hood of mine, so hard to obtain, is because of you; for by your grace, lord of the world, (I am) ruler of the gods. Therefore, lord of the gods of gods, it must be forgiven—I am (your) servant." Having said this, the husband of Śacī spoke a further word to Kṛṣṇa, lotus-petal-eyed, no boy though in a boy's form, resembling the flax flower, marked with the śrīvatsa, seated on the surface of the rock, having done a more than human deed: "For masters have no anger towards servants, O best of masters." Then he spoke to him sweetly with a divine voice.
