Then the tiger of wild beasts, and the bull of cattle; and (he) consecrated the plakṣa tree as king of the forest trees. Of the oceans and the rivers, and of the clouds and of the raining, (and) of the Ādityas, he consecrated Parjanya as overlord. Over all the fanged (creatures) he consecrated Śeṣa as king, and Takṣaka as king of the crawling serpents; and Kāmadeva was made lord of all the hosts of Apsarases. Then of the seasons, of the months, and likewise of the days, of the fortnights and of the nights, of the muhūrtas, lunar days and junctures, of the kalās, kāṣṭhās and (their) measures, and of the (sun's) course and the two solstices, and of reckoning and of conjunction, he made the year the lord. Having thus in due order apportioned the realms, that grandfather (Brahmā) then established the guardians of the directions, O Bhārata.
