(her feet) fitted with jewelled sandals, smeared with saffron and with red lac, reddened by the pollen-grains of the mandāra flowers on the crown of the king of the gods; ever attended by the offerings of water given by gods, siddhas and chief sages, attended by swarms of bees that are the massed crowns of ascetics — at the auspicious great festival of Rādhā, thronged with cowherds and cowherd women, and on the full-moon day of Kārttika: to that Gaṅgā I bow. She who is ten lakh yojanas, and five times that in length, who encircles the Maharloka: to that Gaṅgā I bow. The sonless obtains a son, the wifeless obtains a wife, the sick man is released from sickness, the bound man surely becomes free. She sang charmingly with beautiful rhythm and with the vīṇā; pleased, Brahmā gave her a necklace of the finest of jewels. "Show us your own form, O Lord, and just the boon we desire." At that moment a bodiless voice arose there. Some are dwellers on earth, some dwellers in heaven; to do this Mahādeva acts in the assembly of the gods.
