(He was) surrounded by a hundred thousand nāgas, spear-like, teeming with venom; seeing him coming on in rage to devour (them), (Dhanvantari) laughed. All the nāgas assembled where Dhanvantari himself was; the throng of disciples grew afraid, seeing the countless nāgas. "Even if Brahmā and the other gods should come to the battlefield, even so I shall vanquish your enemy — there is no doubt." Manasā said: "The sense of mantras, the craft of mantras, the classification of mantras, the great healing herb — speak, do you know (these), O adept? And are you a disciple of Garuḍa? Seeing the serpent-weapon coming, Garuḍa, the bearer of Hari, quickly dealt with (it) with his beak and, long hungry, devoured (it). With the spear given by Śiva, unwardable on every side, I am able to reduce the three worlds to ashes, O mistress of the gods. I worship the supreme Nāgeśvarī, the goddess who bestows all knowledge, the tranquil one, versed in all knowledge, who rides the lord of nāgas." The nāgas went off greatly delighted, resplendent with their rows of hoods. Thus has the whole king of hymns been recited by me to you.
