seated on a jewelled lion-throne and decked with jewelled ornaments, wearing a yellow garment, resplendent with a crown of excellent jewels; seated on a jewelled lion-throne and decked with jewelled ornaments, made splendid by a host of five hundred thousand cowherds; with a peacock-feather crest and adorned with jewel-garlands, gleaming with excellent jewelled earrings hung with kadamba flowers; his lower lip like the bandhujīva flower, adorned with jewelled earrings, rich with the splendour of every ornament, holding an excellent jewelled staff; adorned with priceless jewelled ornaments, most charming, shining with sandal, aloe-wood, musk and saffron. Having conversed with him, filled with joy, they went to the next gate, O sage; and thereafter in order, O brahmin, at three gates there (they saw beings) with lower lips like ripe bimba fruit, with lotus faces smiling, with rows of teeth beautiful as ripe pomegranate seeds. (The gate was) adorned with pillars of various jewels and gems set with diamonds, resplendent with networks of garlands of pārijāta blossoms, entrancing with the sounds of instruments and of drums, O Nārada, surrounded by hosts of cowherds equal to Kṛṣṇa. Having bowed to that Lord whose form is radiance, the lords of the gods, rising up there and absorbed in meditation, set out before the radiance — a target having the form of the six qualities, to be described by the wise. What can I describe? I bow to that radiant form which is the goal. In each single pore (of him) is one cosmic egg after another — of that great Viṣṇu he (Kṛṣṇa?) is but a sixteenth part. He bowed again and again, his eyes filled with tears; and even as he stood, the lords of the gods again made a hymn of praise.
