Nevertheless you are released from the curse here, (which came) from slighting Prakṛti; and egoism is for all the inauspicious seed of sin. Those gods and all the sages went joyfully to their own abodes, singing again and again my utterly spotless glory. (Her) charming with a single row of teeth that put a string of pearls to shame, adorned with jewelled armlets, bracelets and jewelled anklets. Śrī Kṛṣṇa said: Listen, beloved, I shall relate the ancient tale you desire, which is not to be told, to be kept secret, and censured by the great. That Creator spoke to his son, radiantly blazing, standing before him, hard to restrain, a portion of my portion, delighting in his own self, charming. The seers said: Ah, what is this deed of yours, O father, so utterly reprehensible! You, O ordainer of the world, do what is the conduct of base men. You yourself are the maker of the universe and the ruler even of the restrainer (Yama); we are the ordainer of the worlds — and by that (right) you take the girl? For the glorious, ill-fame is a greater misery than the giving up of life. Brahmā, having fixed it in his heart as one, became absorbed in Brahman. From an evil deed comes disgrace, and from that shame surely follows; from a good deed comes good standing, and spotless fame everywhere. Deeming pleasure, which is the seed of sorrow, (to be pleasure), fools, through the fault of fate, resort with delight and affection to other men's wives, constantly. In my outer domain, do what is dear (to me), as granted by me; and inwardly (keep) meditation on my lotus feet, which destroys obstacles.
