The tale (is) of the essences of the Purāṇas — ah, the rāsa-procession of Hari! All Hari's plays on earth are exceedingly charming. || (The place was) beautifully adorned with various couches made ready, fit for love-making, with campaka blossoms together with musk and sandal. || Regaining consciousness in a moment, she heard the sound again; she sat down, she rose up, agitated again and again. || Fifteen thousand of Sāvitrī's companions went out from Vraja, and ten thousand friends of Pārijātā went. || After Kṛṣṇapriyā sixteen thousand went; after Madhumatī sixteen thousand went. || And the very delicate, charming humming of the bees drunk on flower-honey, keeping company with the female bees. || She at once fell into a swoon, tormented by love's arrow; with all her limbs bristling with thrills, she lost consciousness. || Mādhava joyfully begged for the betel chewed by Rādhā; Rādhikā, afraid, did not give it, and fell at his lotus feet. || Having thus played on the land, they went joyfully to the water; having made water-play there, they were now quite exhausted. || Out of desire she gave (it) to her lord, for the sake of increasing love; and some woman, dragging another to her, making her naked out of desire, || made a biting with her teeth on her fine lip like a ripe bimba fruit; and on the lovely bank of a lake, in a flower garden quite deserted, || the lover lovingly made an embrace of the loving women; women have sixteen arts, and the love-play is of that measure. || Lord Śaṃkara came together with Pārvatī, with Mahākāla on his left side and Nandikeśvara on his right. || The lords among sages made a rain of garlands mixed with musk; seeing the rāsa, the wives of the gods were tormented by love's arrows. || Drawing Hari to her again, she sent (him) into the water; in the deep current, O sage, the lord of the world plunged. || Smearing (her) on the breast with the liquid of sandal, aloe-wood, musk and saffron, he kissed (her) again and again. || In lovely flower gardens and on the banks of lakes, and in every lovely cave, and in streams and rivers... || The gods went to their own homes, and so did the goddesses and the sages; all of them praised (him) and were filled with joyful amazement.
