There (was) a certain powerful demon, white in colour, terrifying, with a misshapen form and face, in the shape of a heron and huge as a mountain. And with fire he burned its wings, and by Kubera's crescent-headed arrow its feet were cut off. The Lord pastured the cattle-herd and went to Bhāṇḍīra; and Keśī, the mighty lord of the demons, saw Mādhava as he went. Nārada said: Who were those divine, Viṣṇu-devoted beings in demon form? Tell me, greatly fortunate one, what most wondrous deed was done? At once, casting off his body, he became an attendant of Kṛṣṇa. Once those brothers of yours went to the Citra lake. "Why, or how, should we not drink? Those things were given to you." Meditating constantly on whose lotus feet, we worship him with a lotus. At the hearing of Śrī Kṛṣṇa's beauty his body was marked with thrilling hairs. Having heard the words of the Gandharvas, Śiva said this to them. Saying "Look at all that," Śiva showed it to them; and seeing that form, with tears in their eyes, they bowed to him whose form is all things. The observer of the vow should worship (him) in a pot, in a gem, in a śālagrāma stone, or in water; he should meditate with devotion on the Lord of Rādhā, having duly worshipped the five deities—(the goddess) adorned with a lovely row of leaf-designs, radiant with fire-pure garments, and bright with two fine jewelled earrings on her beautiful cheeks. Having done thus for three months, and thereafter the installation—hear, Nārada, the ritual on the day of installation there. A son will become like a servant, and a husband will do her bidding; the good wife will at every moment be possessed of devotion to Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa. Of our chosen deity, and the highest of vows—the worship of Hari, O lord, is the cause of all good fortune. You are the very form of all prosperity, embodied as infinite power; and in whose house you are, O goddess, he is the vessel of lordly wealth. Give to Hari fruit and flower more abundant than that, O lovely one; having fed the brahmins engaged in the vow, (give) more than that. And the cowherds and cowherd women, and the boys and the girls, and the boys went joyfully along with Kṛṣṇa and the Plough-bearer. He went mounted on a chariot with golden trappings: Nanda, Sunanda, Śrīdāmā, Giribhānu, Vibhākara. Horses by tens of millions upon tens of millions, chariots by tens of millions upon tens of millions, and carts by tens of millions upon tens of millions, filled with goods.
