It is fitting to hold an inquiry, and you are the foremost of those who know dharma; Vīrabhadra, Kārttikeya and the attendants are here as witnesses. Whatever was said out of anger and grief, that is rather (said) out of delusion; forgive it, Lord of the world, and out of harsh love for a son. And you are the daughter's son of king Reṇuka, born of Manu's line, and (Rāma's) maternal uncle, good, a hero, one who has taken refuge at Viṣṇu's feet. Meanwhile Durgā saw before her a brahmin, exceedingly dwarfish, a boy, of splendour equal to ten million suns, seated on a jewelled lion-throne, and Śaṅkara himself spoke; (the boy was) exceedingly full of blazing power, and utterly concealed in form. A betrayer of friends, an ingrate, one who rides on a bull, a cook, a burner of corpses, a village-priest, a brahmin who is husband of a low-caste woman. A begetter is a father to men by the giving of birth and by protecting; then, by causing (the lineage's) extension, he is by a portion Prajāpati. The guru is Brahmā, the guru is Viṣṇu, the guru is the god Maheśvara; the guru alone is the supreme brahman, the guru has the form of the sun. As the elephant-faced one and Kārttikeya are yours, O Pārvatī, so too is Paraśurāma the Bhārgava — of this there is no doubt. 'Vighna' denotes calamity, 'nāyaka' has the sense of breaking; I bow to him, Vighnanāyaka, who brings about the breaking of calamity.
