Rāma's messenger said: In the vicinity of the bank of the Narmadā, at the foot of the imperishable banyan, is that Bhṛgu together with his brothers; there you ought to go. — My breaths are unsteady, my mind is repeatedly agitated; my left side twitches constantly. Hear the dream (I) saw, dear one. I saw the disc of the sun falling from the sky to the earth, a meteor-fall, a comet, and the eclipse of moon and sun. A widow, clothed in black, black in hue, naked indeed, with hair unbound, embraces me — this I saw in the night, O lovely one. And distorted shapes and sounds, and weeping in the village and elsewhere, O lord; hearing (this) at dawn I awoke — tell (me) now what the remedy is. All that knowledge which was given (you) by the giver has been forgotten by you; and if your mind is bent on injuring a brahmin, O evil-minded one, how (then)? With sandal, aloe, musk and camphor mixed with saffron I shall make an anointing on all your limbs, O handsome one. By whose command the wind blows, ever trembling with fear, death moves about unceasingly, (and) the sun burns continually. The virtuous woman became motionless, seeing him about to depart, having put on his armour and holding the inexhaustible bow with its arrow.
