Nārāyaṇa said: Brahmā went to the dwelling of the great-souled Śukra, thronged with the various hosts of daityas and adorned with a jewelled pavilion—(to him who is) the giver of knowledge and of mantras, the giver of all riches, the bestower of the fruit of everyone's own deeds, the best in the whole world. (Śukra said:) "O Lord, to make me fulfilled—welcome to you! I am your child. To ask after the welfare of those who delight in their own self is thus a mockery. Now hear from me, wise one, the reason for my coming here, sent as I am by the gods and by the destroyer of the universe." Brahmā said: "Kālāgnirudra is the destroyer of the universe, the greatest of the strong; O children, who indeed will make war with him? He is like thirty million suns, blazing, utterly wondrous, with Rādhā's amulet at his throat, the lord of all the daitya folk. Homage to that blessed Śiva whose form is auspiciousness; homage to Ananta, to the good, to the Vaiṣṇavas, O Prajāpati." Sanaka said: "A man of merit is conquered by no one; a sinner is conquered by his own sins. The lamp of merit is not put out by the wind that is heresy. O Tārā, give up fear of me; what fear is there for you while I am present? By my boon you will be blessed with good fortune in your own husband." Having given his blessing to Śambhu and Dharma, Brahmā went to his world; the gods went to their own abodes, and Bṛhaspati to his own house—ten million gold pieces, a hundred thousand fine garments, jewelled ornaments and a vessel exceedingly lovely.
