For how long a time (endures the life) of the small (Virāṭ), of Brahmā, and of prakṛti, and likewise the lifespan of Manu, of Indra, of the moon, and of the sun? — Wearing a garland of forest flowers, glorious, resplendent in yellow raiment; up above in the sky is that eternal Vaikuṇṭha of Viṣṇu; adorned with the circle of the rāsa dance shining with half that measure; and in the midst of rivers, hills, forests and the rest is Goloka. A month is made of two fortnights, a year of twelve months; by a month of men there is a day and night of the ancestors. There are seven weekdays there, and the lunar days are held to be sixteen; days and nights, two fortnights, a month and a year have been fashioned. A lakh of priceless jewels and ten crores of gold; a lakh of divine cows fitted with golden horns, well honoured. And the fifth Manu, Raivata, is the foremost of the most righteous; and the sixth is to be known as Cākṣuṣa, devoted to devotion to Viṣṇu. When the night of Brahmā has passed, the Ordainer created again; and in that night of Brahmā there is said to be the lesser dissolution. Sāvitrī the mother of the gods, the Vedas, Dharma and the rest — all perish, and Death too, except prakṛti and Śiva. And she is the goddess presiding over the intellect, belonging to Śrī Kṛṣṇa alone, free of qualities; deluded by whose māyā are Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Śiva and the rest. Salutation to him, remembrance of him, meditation on him, worship of him, and the chanting of his qualities destroys great sins. His part is forever equal to him, as a spark is to fire. And whoever were created by Brahmā — Rudra, the Ādityas and the rest. So that devotion may arise in me toward Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the supreme Self — devotion very hard for all to obtain — bring that about, O great sage. Devotees, having served the qualityless one, attainable by meditation and hard to propitiate, go after a very long while, after many births, to Goloka. The rule for the worship of Rādhā, the hymn, the amulet-formula, the mantra, and the meditation as declared in the Sāma Veda — these he gave to that king. Strewn with pārijāta trees, surrounded by wish-cows, very widely extended like the sky, round like the disc of the moon. The supreme Brahman, made of its own will, without qualities, beyond prakṛti, attainable by meditation, hard to propitiate, and very hard for us to obtain. It has the form of all that is auspicious and is the cause of all that is auspicious; it gives all auspiciousness and is the auspiciousness of all auspicious things. And she is the presiding goddess among womankind, supreme, excellent, remembering her (former) births. The story of Rādhikā has been told; what more do you wish to hear?
